I just listened to this again, this time with two of my sons (ages 14 & 17, respectively), specifically awaiting a particular moment - one in which they did NOT disappoint! Nearing the end of the final chapter, I stopped doing my everyday mom-type stuff so I could - as inconspicuously as possible - watch at my boys. Both sat somberly, quiet...and then it happened:

Well both the Bar series on the Dark Somniums channel, and this one with Nelle, AND that series I did awhile back Tortoise and Tarot cards are all in the same literary universe. They all take place in or outside of the fictional town of Sturgeon where strange things happen. Those three so far are the only ones that have been narrated (: I have also narrated a small side story that explains where the book Buck has comes from called The Thinga That Dwell in the Mud. Holy Crap! I've been praying for this drop since last night...bam...here it is! And FOUR HOURS AND THIRTY MINUTES? Have I died and gone to heaven? Only thing is. I have to go to the grocery store and get stuff for dinner, and then make dinner...so..either I have to break this up, or wait until after dinner to digest it all.in one setting...decisions, decisions...all I can say for certain is that we love you for this commitment, after all, it's the complete soundtrack content to two entire theatrical releases. @@TJayLea Ahh okay I was up most of the night last night trying to finish this but absolutely crashed mid sin-consumption lol, I was so invested though.

I finished today and it was really excellent, took a lot of turns I didn’t expect. I’m heartbroken about Buck, though. And Edgar has such a special place in my heart now. “Save mama, save papa.” Jesus, that feisty little crow tugs at my emotions.

I also loved the touch of Nelle kicking ass with her iPod in. Music is great for a lot of things - apparently also for killing monster inmates and tulpas. Learn something new every day.

I also really loved the “I run a bar that serves one kind of a drink in exchange for stories” series. Hearing excellent writing makes me write. Thanks for that.

im gunna be honest, this is good certainly, but even in universe the story about the bar that serves unique drinks is much better, or uh, its hard to explain because I wouldnt say better in a way that implies this isnt good because this is good dont get me wrong (and narration is on point #loveyouguys), but the bar story is in a different league , other great stories are tales from the gas station, tales from a lonely broadcast station, my friend has been living in an alternate universe, and.. gosh theres another one I cant quite think of

This story and voice acted drama were EPIC! The way it was done enabled the listener to become fully immersed in the universe it was occurring in. It was a rollercoaster ride filled with every emotion fully realized at some point within. It is a marvelously written story and all the time and dedication put into it by all of the actors brought it to spectacular life. I loved it. I absolutely fell in love with Edgar Allen Crow! I know this is an old post, but I saw you responding to some newer’ish posts, so I figured I’d drop my $.02 (not that you’d need to respond anyways).

I’m a huge Neil Gaiman fan and the bar story felt just like something he’d come up with, so I was hooked right away. I hadn’t realized there were more stories set in the same universe until I was strolling through the comments on another listen, but you absolutely killed this.

Seriously, you’re way too modest at the end of this. I thought you did a spectacular job, the characters sounded different enough that I never felt lost, nor did I feel like I had to back up to catch wheee the story went. Part of that is the writing, but in audio form, most of that is the reader.

Take it from both a veteran writer & actress: you've got some SEE-REE-USS talent, my friend (aside: yes, I DO in fact know how to spell "serious" - just for the record). I can neither write a story that's both so involved/intricate whilst keeping it brief enough for narration (I either write full-on novels, or fluff pieces), nor even dream of so effortlessly switching between accents & characters so effortlessly & accurately. You've got quite the gift - one I wish I possessed. The sky's the limit, luv! Heck, forget the sky; you have the raw potential to knock it out to the stratosphere! I can't wait to see what you do next!

Perhaps you'd consider starting your own channel? I can guarantee at least 1 immediate subscriber. It'd be a wonderful way to showcase both your writing & your acting. Just sayin'.

Hi Rom, I've just finished this for the second time; fortunately this time I heard the ending you added wirh some insights into the production of the story. Firstly I am in awe at your humble self regard. To hear you speak of others professionalism and then downplay your own part as coming from a hobby channel, that was a staggering level of modesty and was spoken with such honest sincerity I have no doubt that you truly do not recognize just how absolutely brilliant your own work is. This huge story ,that the author not only trusted you with but was confident enough in your vision of its telling that he gave his time and talent to work alongside you in its production . Secondly, thank you . I am in a pretty dark place at present, life is challenging and it's hard to focus on what to address first, yeah when it decides to go off the rails the ride can get chaotic! The thank's is for the four hours plus of wonderful distraction you just provided me with The story is obviously well written and I do enjoy the author's writing and the multitude of distinct character's he has created. But without the voices and accents , without the music and sound effects you chose to support those characters with the story however wonderful it is would still have been presented in a 2 dimensional platform. With your excellent attention to detail and very high standards of production values you have produced something any audio book producers would be proud of. That you honestly feel your channel is in the hobby category must put the fear of God into every other hobby channel on YouTube hahaha. Be proud of what you have created here, sin or not! For the first time today I had four hours of stress-free living, you can't imagine what that has meant to me. I'm sorry for how long this is, but it's given me another hour of distraction and I had to tell you just how good the story is. I hope this finds you and yours well, hale and hearty and that you are enjoying your life , the work you do makes a huge difference to some of our lives, it seems only right that this positive energy returns to its source and surrounds you and yours with likewise positivity. My goodness, this story's extremely good, when I saw that TJ Lea was the author, I was pretty hyped to listen to this whole thing. I love your voicing so much!!! There's multiple parts that are my favorite. I can see the gigantic amount of team work that was put into this, and I love all you guys' effort. It was really immersive. <3

Heeeeey it's the amazing voice from dark somniums channel that does Letty and Lockwood and all the other female voices. I'm so glad I found this. You two are the only channels so far that I feel immersed into the stories.
