Listening to this in 2023 takes me all the way back to my childhood. It’s amazing how when you get older, you look back on things with a different perspective and realize things you never thought of as a kid. As kids, we saw a couple break up but as adults, we see a woman doing what’s best for her. Troy was so fixated on college that he lost track of what’s important to him: Gabriella. Lots of people would’ve stayed and endured but she said no. Sometimes in life, the right choices are the hardest to make. We all can relate to that. This is what makes this scene so emotional. I miss this era of Disney, I’m glad I was able to grow up during it. ❤

I was only 15 when this movie came out. Now I’m 30 and struggling through a really difficult breakup– which I initiated. I suddenly relate to this song in ways I never imagined when I was younger.
