Falling
Gabrielle Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm in my bed
And you're not here
And there's no one to blame but the drink in my wandering hands
Forget what I said
It's not what I meant
But I can't take it back
I can't unpack the baggage you left
What am I now?
What am I now?
What if I'm someone I don't want around?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin'

What if I'm down?
What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I am fallin'

You said you care
And you miss me, too
And I'm well aware I write too many songs about you
And the coffee's out
Oh, at the Beachwood Cafe
And it kills me 'cause I know I've run out of things I could say

What am I now?
What am I now?
What if I'm someone I don't want around?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin'

What if I'm down?
What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin'

And I get the feelin' you'll never need me again

Oh
Oh no

What am I now?
What am I now?
What if you're someone I just want around?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin'

What if I'm down?
What if I'm out?
What if I'm someone you won't talk about?
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin'

I'm fallin'
I'm fallin' again
I'm fallin' again

And I'm fallin', fallin' again
I'm fallin'

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Gabrielle's song "Falling" dig into the feelings of falling for someone and the insecurities and doubts that come with it. The song is an emotional plea about wanting someone in spite of knowing that they may not feel the same way anymore. The first verse talks about being alone and blaming it on the drink in their hands, meaning the singer started to drink because they were missing someone. They continue to regret what they said and feeling like they cannot take back the mistakes they made, which led to the person leaving. The chorus repeats a set of questions about what they are and what will happen to them, indicating that they are unsure about their future.

The second verse contrasts the first verse's solitude with the assurance that the other person cares and misses them. The mention of the Beachwood Cafe adds to the emotional context of the song. It was once a famous place in Hollywood where celebrities met to discuss their work and lives. Gabrielle uses the location as an allegory for daily life continuing despite the pain of their separation. The bridge is the most raw and heartbreaking part of the song where Gabrielle confesses their feelings that the person will never need them again.

Overall, the song's lyrics delve into the emotional depth of a relationship where one person wants to be with the other, but the future is uncertain. It also touches on the insecurities that come with falling in love and not knowing if the other person feels the same. Gabrielle delivered an emotional vocal performance with a vulnerable and raw approach that makes the listener empathize with the singer's feelings.

on Tumbling Down

Tumbling Down is more about those countries that are in conflict with, like wars.
Gabrielle is telling us that all of us are the same, regardless of from what country we came from, whatever our racial origins were, whatever language we speak.
She was asking, the world leaders who were the masterminds of the chaos between nations, when to stop. Will they stop when it is already too late? When thousands of humanities were already lost by these senseless killings? When no one is left?
She begs to stop these wars between countries before it was too late to perceive.
She was asking if everyone have died, will they have felt that they eon the battle?
In conclusion, this song is all about the wars going on around 5he globe, like now in Israel and Palestine, etc.
Discovered this song last Oct.7,2023 ,when Hama's attacked Israel.
But,I'm Pro Palestine because Israel is taking revenge,Israel is unbecoming now as a country. With thousands of innocent Palestinian died with their bómbings, esp.children and women,I am not going to buy their alibis and being biased.
