Encore
Galaxie Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The song “Encore” by Galaxie is a reflection on the cyclical and repetitive nature of life. The lyrics describe the passing of another night, one that is explosive, dying, and freezing time. The repetition of the phrase “Encore une autre nuit” emphasizes the routine and continuation of these experiences. Despite the endlessness of these nights, they continue to provide warmth and life to the singer’s veins.
The second verse introduces a new kind of rain, one of bombs, that floods the singer’s heart. This imagery suggests violence and destruction, yet the rain of impossible smiles waters the flowers, bringing renewal and growth. The bridge of the song emphasizes the repetition and cyclical nature of life, as everything begins again and again, and this repetition is accepted as perfect. The final repetition of “Encore une fois” reinforces this idea of starting over and experiencing life anew.
Overall, “Encore” by Galaxie is a meditation on the cyclical nature of life and how it can bring both destruction and renewal. The repetitiveness of the song’s structure and lyrics serve to reinforce the idea that life, like music, is a series of repeated patterns that must be embraced and celebrated.
