Rain
Gallagher & Lyle Lyrics

I sit at home and wonder why
Ever since you said goodbye
I felt so all alone
Every time it rains
Summer showers soak the ground
I watch the rain come pouring down
I call out your name
Every time it rains
I hang my head and want to die
I don't seem to care that I'm
Just not making it on my own
Every time it rains
Sometimes late at night
I close my eyes
And pretend that you're here with me
Every time it rains
I realize just how lonely my life is gonna be
Every time it rains
Every time I hear the raindrops fall
I may say I don't mind it at all
But I do
Every time it rains
Every time I try to tell myself
That in time I'll find somebody else
But it won't be you
Every time it rains
The lyrics of Gallagher & Lyle's song Rain is a tale of heartbreak and loneliness. The line "Every time it rains, I sit at home and wonder why" sets the melancholic mood of the song. The singer is wondering why their significant other left them and is struggling to move on. They feel lost and alone, and every time it rains, it intensifies their pain. The rain serves as a metaphor for the tears they shed, as it pours down like their grief.
The singer's sorrowful state is exacerbated by the thought of being on their own. "I don't seem to care that I'm just not making it on my own" indicates their dependency on their lover, and their inability to be happy without them. To add to this, they realize how lonely their life will be every time it rains, and they are reminded of their loss.
The song's depth is highlighted through lines like "Sometimes late at night, I close my eyes and pretend that you're here with me." This indicates that the singer is still hanging on to their past, unable to move on. The ending lines of each verse, "But it won't be you", echo their hopeless state and reinforce the fact that they feel it is impossible to find someone new.
Overall, Gallagher & Lyle's Rain is an emotional tribute to the pain of heartbreak and the struggle to overcome it.
