The current members are Masatoshi "Sho" Ono (vocals), Syu (guitar), Taka who replaced Yu-To in 2009 (bass), YUHKI (keyboard) and JUNICHI (drums.) Veterans of the heavy metal scene, they set to work assembling a band. Syu, known as guitarist for the indie heavy metal bands Valkyr, Animetal and SPINALCORD, where he also served as lead vocalist, and vocalist YAMA-B, who worked with bands Gunbridge and Rekion, originally were joined by keyboardist A (of Valkyr) and drummer Toshihiro Yui (Formerly of Honey Quest and Cemetary.) They soon were to recruit keyboardist Yuhki, of Ark Storm, and drummer Junichi Satoh. After Tsui left in 2006, they recruited yu-to of DELUHI. They were signed to VAP Records. Syu writes music for the band and contributed his deep, roaring vocals, while lead vocalist Yama-B contributes the songwriting, with lyrics and song titles in English. Galneryus has a dress style that borders on the style of visual kei, with medievally styled and leather dress, toting instruments with coloration to match,although recently they have set for a more casual style.
Galneryus' first album was the Rock opera styled Flag of Punishment. Through a few loosely tied songs, this album seems to tell the story of a revolution to gain freedom, and its victories and losses. The second album, Advance to the Fall seems to be more of a straightforward album, which doesn't tell a specific story, but rather tells a collection of smaller stories for the sake of standalone pieces. Cover art for both albums is that of Yoshitaka Amano, artist for the Final Fantasy series of video games.
In 2008, Vocalist YAMA-B left the band due to creative differences. Masatoshi Ono has been announced as the replacement.

this album is indeed a worthy galneryus album!
vetelgyus, man, this song is soooooo good! there are so many catchy tunes on that album like enemy to injustice, there is no escape, judgement day and endless story, as well as the guide and i wish (so that were almost all the songs xD)
but i have to admit, it is really hard to top that masterpiece of album called angel of salvation.
of course we expect so much out of this new album, because we got "spoiled" by angel of salvation.
to me, there is nothing to complain about this album, i also dont understand the fuss about reincarnation. owari naka, kono uta, blame yourself, against the domiation, blast of hell and flag of reincarnation were godlike songs!
the most important thing is, that galneryus keeps writing songs, because this band is so good and enjoys what they are doing and this, to me, is the most important.
i wish them good luck and much fun on the vetelgyus tour and i hope they can become famous aroun the world, because that is something they really deserve!

I just recently discovered Galneryus and boy am I happy that I did. In the US now most post hardcore and metal core bands just copy of each other and there is little to no originality left. Man this is such a refreshing sound. For people complaining about this song being not on par with their other stuff needs to calm down. As a new listener with no bias opinion over every one of their album, this shit is just as good compared to their other stuff. Just stop expecting the same sound over and over, that shit gets tiring. New sound and refreshing approaches are always good.

People can believe what they want about Sho, he's still a great singer. Yes, I miss Yama B, I do. I think he has a great voice. But he was for what Galneryus was then and Sho is for what Galneryus is for now. I personally believe this band has evolved and moved on from what it used to be, not saying anything is or was wrong with it of course. They sound great, definitely a different sound than your heavy guitar, screaming stuff you get nowadays in most present bands. (Not saying anything is wrong with that either.) So just accept Galneryus for what it is now and if you can't do that, then like...stop listening to them. No one said you had to keep on listening. I'll just continue to listen to them and support them all the way!
