Mayday
Gamma Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You′re down in a dark pool
Of doubt and confusion
But you're gonna have to carry on
Til you come to the conclusion
There ain′t no way
You're gonna slip it off
Grab it with both hands
And rip it off

Mayday
Don't carry nothin′
That′ll drag you down
Mayday
Don't drown

Miles away from anything
And running out of power
But remember what they say
About the darkest hour
You′ll never really know
Who might be
Send out your signal
Loud and clear

Mayday
Don't carry nothin′
That'll drag you down
Mayday
Don′t drown

Mayday
Mayday
Mayday

Mayday
(Repeat ...)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Gamma's song "Mayday" convey the message of perseverance through tough times. The song starts off describing a situation where someone is stuck in a "dark pool of doubt and confusion." The lyrics go on to say that even though things may seem overwhelming, one should keep going until they find a solution. The phrase "grab it with both hands and rip it off" implies a sense of empowerment and determination. The chorus furthers this sentiment, stating that in order to overcome the struggles one is facing, they must not let anything "drag you down" or "drown" you out. The listener is then reminded that even when there seems to be no way out, sending out a "Mayday" signal can potentially lead to finding help.

Overall, "Mayday" is an empowering song meant to inspire listeners to keep going even when things seem bleak. By encouraging one to take control of their situation and not let anything hold them back, the song instills a sense of hope and determination.

by far the best band on planet earth at that time. Saw them ages ago opening for Foreigner but the crowd were screaming and shooting for the main act which in a way spoiled the gig of Gamma. ITunes shop says that singer Davey Pattison tried to sound like Paul Rogers - complete bullshit ! To me Gamma had a unique sound and songs that should not be compared with the other bands like Bad Company.

Love all their albums. Sound even better now than when I bought them at 20.
