โBoring DJs be very afraid: Gareth Emery is about to kick your arseโ. So said Mixmag, when in 2002, they took the bold step of predicting that a virtually unknown 22 year-old would rise to become a major dance music star. However, six years later, itโs likely that even their expectations have been well surpassed. His current tour diary reads like the departure board at Londonโs Heathrow Airport. Desert island raves in Indonesia and snow-drenched mountains in Vancouver sit alongside major global events like San Franciscoโs iconic Love Fest and Hollandโs 30,000 strong Trance Energy. The likes of Asian superclub Zouk and Bondi Beach in Sydney complete the picture: in short, youโll find Gareth at a mouth-watering, hand-picked selection of the planetโs coolest clubs and events, including UK super brands like Ministry of Sound and Gatecrasher.
When not on tour, heโs kept rakishly busy in his Cambridgeshire studio as one of the sceneโs most in-demand producers and remixes. If youโre not familiar with anthems like โMore Than Anythingโ, โFormentera Whatโ or his seminal classic โMistralโ, youโre probably a little out of touch with the modern dance scene, but suffice to say that Tiesto, Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten and Judge Jules are all big fans, and Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren liked his work so much that they both commissioned him to work on their respective labels (Vandit / Armind). However, the majority of his music is still released on his Five AM imprint, (described by DJ Mag as โthe most consistent trance label in the worldโ), where heโs a co-owner and A&R. Whatever the label, one thing thatโs clear is that Gareth Emery stamps his hallmark of quality on a record, people listen.
Always ahead of the game, Gareth was the one of the first leading DJs to embrace podcasting when he started his fortnightly radio show The Gareth Emery Podcast in early 2006. The show become an overnight success, immediately becoming an essential download for savvy dance music fans, and its widely imitated format has since helped to explode the popularity of dance music podcasts. It was also nominated for a Miami WMC IDMA Award for โBest Podcastโ along with Roger Sanchez and Pete Tong in 2007.
Although he always ranked well in the annual DJ Mag Top 100 DJs poll, he became cynical about the amount of advertising and self-promotion that DJs put into it, and in 2013 asked fans not to vote for him.
Gareth haศ worked with a number of collaborators and vocalists, including his sister Roxanne Emery.

Beyond together and alone
And at the edge where you fade into me
We find the shelter we call home
In Gareth Emery's song "Sanctuary," featuring Lucy Saunders, the lyrics describe a place of refuge that is found between two people. The song speaks to the innate human desire to be understood and to find a sense of belonging in another person. The first line, "Between the spaces where we long to be," suggests that this sense of belonging is something that many people desire, but is not easily found. The line "Beyond together and alone" suggests that this sense of belonging is something that is beyond just spending time with others, but is also something that is not found in isolation.
The next line, "And at the edge where you fade into me," suggests a deep level of intimacy, where two people become almost inseparable. The last line of the chorus, "We find the shelter we call home," suggests that this sense of belonging is not just an abstract concept, but is something tangible and real that can be found in another person. Overall, the song speaks to the power of human connection and the importance of finding someone with whom we can share our deepest thoughts, fears, and desires.

Between the spaces where we long to be
Beyond together and alone
And at the edge where you fade into me
We find a shelter we call home
Escape the shadows that were holding me
Slip these chains of flesh and bones
And in the seconds where we know weโre free
This is the place where we call home
When thereโs no where left to run
Run with me
Let the moment be a sanctuary
When its all that youโve become
Set it free
Let this moment be a sanctuary

Entre los espacios en los que anhelamos ser
Mรกs allรก juntos y solos
Dรฉjalo libre
Deja que el momento sea un santuario
