GARY PUCKETT has performed on more than thirty network television shows and prime time specials during his career, even adding a command performance for the President and Prince Charles at the White House. The Union Gap disbanded in the seventies. In 1974, "Young Girl" was reissued in England where it received a silver record award for attaining a top five position on the pop charts, several years after its initial release.

Gary continues to tour nationally & internationally, has a new album out now, "GARY PUCKETT - LIVE", and has recently released his first ever Chrismas CD, entitled "At Christmas".

I met a girl at a party 52 years ago and immediately became infatuated. We were both shy, her more than me, but you could say that we hit it off. This girl became the love of my life and we will be married 51 years later this year. But this is the song that has stuck in my mind ever since. I only told her this when we saw Gary Puckett live last year and he sang it then. As I told her, I nearly choked up, but I will always love this song because to me it's about my very own Young Girl. By the way, Gary still sounds great as we are both now in our 70's.

In saw Gary in concert a couple of years ago, and he paid tribute to the veterans in the audience. As a veteran who served from Viet Nam to Desert Storm, this was special to me. After the show, I told one of the crew to tell Gary how much I appreciated what he did, and he pointed to a curtain and told me “He’s back there go tell him yourself”. I did, and I talked to him for approximately 15 minuets. Gary was a true gentleman, and not at all what I expected.

I did hear this song while on one month shop practice in a town on a Vistula river in Poland. I was seventeen and a half. (May1979).down beneath an escarpment there was this transistor radio blaring ( jonger), I had no idea what any word meant but the fell of my age must have made a connection. Neider was there any notion that I would cross the pond (atlantic) some four years later.

Brings back memories. I lived with my girlfriend for a while, and married her when I was 21 and she was 16. That was in 1975 and everyone we knew were so upset and had such negative comments.
