1. Gateway … Read Full Bio ↴There're two acts with the stage name of Gateway Drugs:
1. Gateway Drugs is formed by two members: Andrew Esterhuizen and David Gabriel Thorpe, of the slightly better known band Beach Party. Together are part of the Surfing Loser Space Cult collective, which also includes The Dollfins.
The first single βAirwavesβ is from their self-titled debut album and is best described as synthpop β in fact the whole album is in the same vain β and it works surprisingly well.
The seven-track album is 24 minutes of pure, synthpop delight and the perfect soundtrack to a lazy weekend. If for some reason you havenβt made up your mind about them after listening to βAirwavesβ then check out βThe Chaseβ; itβs a personal favourite and reminds me of those youthful, care-free summer days.
They've kindly released their album for free: http://www.mediafire.com/?w087o72b92g6abq

2. L.A.-based alt-rock band Gateway Drugs.
Hailing from the dark streets of sunny Los Angeles Gabe, Noa, and Liv Niles are the real live children of The Knackβs Prescott Niles. Blues Williams, a sworn in blood brother, rounds out the band.
Members:
Liv β lead vocals, guitars, bass, theremin β packs a voice smoky sweet like Chrissie and Patsy but lays down sonic smoking leads like Jay and Johnny.
Noa β lead vocals, guitars, keys β croons like a teen angel then coaxes waves of pure bliss and snarling panthers from his guitar.
Gabe β lead vocals, drums, guitars, bass β pounds his kit like a freight train stampeding down the midnight rails while he howls at the moon.
Blues β vocals, bass, guitars, banjos β holds it all together, riding the dark swells with thundering lines and perfect cheek bones, trying his best to keep all the real girls from going under.
Gateway Drugs shows are a controlled cauldron of total rock and roll inspiration. All members are multi-instrumentalist lead singers, and the vocals and instruments are thrown around like chainsaw jugglers up on the high wire, or kids who have been playing together since β¦ well, since they were really little kids. Gateway Drugs are a mind-blowing, heart-altering mix of sex, chaos, bad thoughts, young dreams, and perfect pop hits β¦ take it now.

In Stereo
Gateway Drugs Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Elegant words
Will disappear in the night
Perfectly cursed
Reflect your face in the light
Endlessly vague
The voiding eyes through the dark
Beautifully strange
And the light reveals the truth
Divine, objected youth
In stereo we move
Oh, how the night devours you
And the light reveals the truth
Divine, objected youth
In stereo we move
Oh, how the night devours you
Lost in the dream
Following angels as flies
Tragic conceit
Transcend in-band into life
On open stage
Strangers the moment you wave
Endlessly vague
An unintended escape
And the light reveals the truth
Divine, objected youth
In stereo we move
Oh, how the night devours you
And the light reveals the truth
Divine, objected youth
In stereo we move
Oh, how the night devours you
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
And the light reveals the truth(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
Divine, objected youth(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
In stereo we move(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
Oh, how the night devours you(Oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
The lyrics of "In Stereo" by Gateway Drugs are somewhat abstract, but they seem to describe the fleeting and elusive nature of beauty and desire. The opening lines suggest that sophisticated language and carefully crafted appearances can disappear in the darkness of night, leaving only a cursed reflection of one's true self. The chorus speaks of the revelation of truth, perhaps suggesting that the darkness can also bring clarity and insight, particularly for young people who are still discovering their identities. The repetition of the phrase "divine, objected youth" implies that there may be external forces or societal expectations at play in shaping their self-images.
As the song progresses, the mood becomes more dreamlike and surreal. The singer seems to be lost in a trance, following a vision of angels that may or may not be real. They describe the moment of waving to strangers on an open stage, which could be a metaphor for the performance of one's identity in front of others. Ultimately, the lyrics suggest that desire and beauty are ambiguous and uncertain, always slipping away from us like an unintended escape. The final repetition of the chorus implies that this cycle of revelation and obsession will continue endlessly.
