1. Gateway … Read Full Bio ↴There're two acts with the stage name of Gateway Drugs:
1. Gateway Drugs is formed by two members: Andrew Esterhuizen and David Gabriel Thorpe, of the slightly better known band Beach Party. Together are part of the Surfing Loser Space Cult collective, which also includes The Dollfins.
The first single ‘Airwaves’ is from their self-titled debut album and is best described as synthpop – in fact the whole album is in the same vain – and it works surprisingly well.
The seven-track album is 24 minutes of pure, synthpop delight and the perfect soundtrack to a lazy weekend. If for some reason you haven’t made up your mind about them after listening to ‘Airwaves’ then check out ‘The Chase’; it’s a personal favourite and reminds me of those youthful, care-free summer days.

2. L.A.-based alt-rock band Gateway Drugs.
Hailing from the dark streets of sunny Los Angeles Gabe, Noa, and Liv Niles are the real live children of The Knack’s Prescott Niles. Blues Williams, a sworn in blood brother, rounds out the band.
Members:
Liv – lead vocals, guitars, bass, theremin – packs a voice smoky sweet like Chrissie and Patsy but lays down sonic smoking leads like Jay and Johnny.
Noa – lead vocals, guitars, keys – croons like a teen angel then coaxes waves of pure bliss and snarling panthers from his guitar.
Gabe – lead vocals, drums, guitars, bass – pounds his kit like a freight train stampeding down the midnight rails while he howls at the moon.
Blues – vocals, bass, guitars, banjos – holds it all together, riding the dark swells with thundering lines and perfect cheek bones, trying his best to keep all the real girls from going under.
Gateway Drugs shows are a controlled cauldron of total rock and roll inspiration. All members are multi-instrumentalist lead singers, and the vocals and instruments are thrown around like chainsaw jugglers up on the high wire, or kids who have been playing together since … well, since they were really little kids. Gateway Drugs are a mind-blowing, heart-altering mix of sex, chaos, bad thoughts, young dreams, and perfect pop hits … take it now.

Sun In Your Eyes
Gateway Drugs Lyrics

You can try to be another girl
Getting drunk at all the parties
Shake it up like darlin'
Hide from everybody you know
It's really easy to be
The only one not going to sleep
Everything is boring
Always so prepared to leave
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've got the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've the feeling tonight
She's busy running around
On the lips of everybody in town
Yeah, she's so important
Oh, you know you want it
Never ever settling down
The boys are dropping like flies
To get what they deserve in their minds
You don't have a chance
The question of romance
That would be a waste of a time
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've got the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've got the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've got the feeling tonight
You've got the sun in your eyes
You've the feeling tonight
The lyrics of Gateway Drugs's song "Sun In Your Eyes" explore themes of identity, rebellion, and the pursuit of pleasure. The song begins by acknowledging that it's not a terrible thing to want to be someone else, particularly a carefree and uninhibited girl who gets drunk at parties and escapes from the expectations of others. There is a sense of longing to shake things up and hide from the familiar, perhaps as a way to escape from the monotony and boredom of everyday life. The lyrics imply that it is easy to be the only one who doesn't conform to societal norms, staying up late and indulging in excess while others sleep.
The focus then shifts to a female character who is constantly on the move, catching the attention and gossip of everyone in town. She is portrayed as someone important and desirable but never settling down or committing to any one person. The boys are depicted as falling for her one by one, motivated by their own desires and expectations. However, the lyrics suggest that pursuing any romantic connection with her would be a waste of time. There is a feeling of resignation and acceptance that she is unattainable, and any hope of a meaningful relationship with her would be futile.
Overall, "Sun In Your Eyes" captures the fleeting and exhilarating moments of rebellion and chasing pleasure, while also acknowledging the limitations and futility in seeking something that may never be within reach.
