1) Triple threat. Many have claimed to possess it, yet finding an artist who has the ability to sing, dance and act is both hard to come by and an even harder quality to obtain. Enter: Gavin Turek. An unlikely character, Gavin turns out to be not at all what she seems. Behind the sweet monotone of her voice, innocent eyes and cascading curls, lies a talented artist. One who is in every sense a triple threat.
The L.A. native known for her incredible voice, is also an experienced dancer, actress, and spokes person for the world renowned make up brand Rimmel London. The Czechoslovakian African beauty began singing at a young age; writing her first song at the age of six.
Gavin's shows promise to be even better then her music. After spending time learning the rich culture and traditional dances of Ghana and India, Gavin took what she learned and incorporated it into her live shows. "The more shows I do, the more I will try to leave little remnants of the places I've been."
Gavin's career has just begun and is sure to be a successful one. Gavin will be releasing her music, an album that incorporates Indie, Pop, and Electronica through newly founded Sonata Cantata Records from Los Angeles, CA which was started by former EVE 6 and Monsters Are Waiting guitarist Jon Siebels. She will release her laptop remix project of her favorite RATATAT songs and if her single "Ring it" is any indication of what lies in store for the rest of the album, her fans are sure to be satisfied. The modest Gavin Turek wrapped up our Venice beach interview by saying, " I never took myself seriously, and I don't know that I still do."

Gavin Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hope we're not making a big mistake
And I know it's the way it has to be
And please Don't you Forget About Me
In five more months I'll be Eighteen
I guess everything's never really as it seems
And I'm not the type to get up and leave
And love is just a stupid game that I can't beat
(And love is just a stupid game that I can't beat)
In Gavin's song "Forget," the lyrics express a sense of longing, uncertainty, and fear of being forgotten. The opening lines, "Please don't move too far away, I hope we're not making a big mistake," suggest a plea to someone not to distance themselves or make a decision that could separate them. It conveys the fear of losing someone or a connection that is important to the singer.
The line "And I know it's the way it has to be" reflects a sense of resignation or acceptance that things cannot remain the same. It implies an understanding that change is inevitable, even if it's difficult to accept. The following line, "And please don't you forget about me," emphasizes the fear of being forgotten, indicating a desire for the other person to remember the bond they share despite any upcoming changes.
The lyrics then shift to a more personal reflection, with the line "In five more months, I'll be Eighteen." This line denotes a specific milestone in the singer's life, transitioning from adolescence to adulthood. By mentioning this significant age, the song captures the anxiety and uncertainty often associated with growing up. The line that follows, "I guess everything's never really as it seems," may allude to the realization that life is complex and doesn't always meet our expectations.
The lyrics continue with the self-awareness of the singer, stating, "And I'm not the type to get up and leave." This line implies that despite the desire for things to remain unchanged, the singer acknowledges their own tendency to stay in difficult situations or relationships, possibly out of fear or insecurity. The final line, "And love is just a stupid game that I can't beat," expresses a sense of defeat and frustration with love. It suggests that the singer feels incapable of navigating the complexities and challenges of romantic relationships.
Overall, the lyrics of "Forget" convey themes of fear, uncertainty, acceptance of change, and the struggle with love and growing up. The song captures the vulnerability and emotional turmoil that often accompanies transitions and the longing for a connection that might be at risk.
