Overall Meaning

In "Take Me Under," Three Days Grace's lead singer, Gavin Brown, sings about being lost and feeling like he's at the end of his rope. He explains that he has no more dreams left to save, and that he's done all he can to try and find his way, but to no avail. Despite his belief that there's nowhere left for him to go, he's waiting for someone to come and take him under, to guide him to where he needs to be. This person seems to be someone who wants him to stay, but Gavin fears that his dreams will only wither away if he does so.

In the second verse of the song, the perspective shifts to the person that Gavin is waiting for. They seem to be leaving despite having just started, and they too have nowhere left to go. The singer is still waiting for this person to take him under, to pull him further, and take him all the way towards a better future. The song is a call for help from someone who feels like they're drowning, and it's a plea for someone to come to the rescue before it's too late.
