I'm going to the stars tonight
Gecko is embarking on a journey into outer space

I don't know exactly how and I don't know why
Gecko is uncertain about how and why he was chosen for this journey

Grew up on cold Moscow streets
Gecko spent his childhood as a stray dog on the streets of Moscow

These paws they saw all kinds of trouble
As a stray dog, Gecko faced many challenges and obstacles in his daily life

Scrapping with puppies over something to eat
Gecko had to fight with other dogs just to get food to survive

It's tough, looks rough but you can't knock the muzzle
Despite his rough exterior, Gecko should not be underestimated

These stray days
Gecko's life as a stray dog

Wasting away as we waste away days
Gecko feels like his life is passing him by without purpose or meaning, just like the days wasted as a stray dog

There must be more to life than this
Gecko feels unsatisfied and longs for something more meaningful in his life

Men in strange suits scooped me off the roadside
Gecko was picked up off the street by people in unfamiliar clothing

Gave me free food
The people who picked up Gecko provided him with food without asking for anything in return

How was I to know I
Gecko was unaware of the reason he was given free food

Had been selected for a secret mission
Gecko was chosen for a covert operation without his knowledge or consent

Took me to all kinds of uncomfortable fittings
Gecko was subjected to various tests and uncomfortable inspections as part of his training

Dogs don't war hats
Gecko finds it strange that he is being made to wear a hat, which is unnatural for dogs

And there were other dogs there
Gecko was not the only dog being trained for the secret mission

All in training
All the dogs were being prepared for their mission

It was like a montage of a particularly strange film
The experience of preparing for the mission was like something out of a bizarre movie

And every day my cage got a bit smaller
Gecko's confinement became increasingly restrictive over time

And other dogs they got the call up
Some of the other dogs were selected for the mission before Gecko

That there services were no longer required
Some of the dogs were deemed unsuitable for the mission and were not chosen

Until the only dog left was I
Eventually, Gecko was the only dog left who was suitable for the mission

That just about brings us to the present day
Gecko is now caught up to the present moment in his story

Tonight's the night they say I'm gonna elevate
Tonight is the night that Gecko will begin his mission into outer space

They put me on a weird diet and
Gecko is being fed an unusual and unfamiliar diet

Keep pointing at strange diagrams
The people in charge of the mission are showing Gecko unusual and complex diagrams

Say I'm going higher than
The people in charge of the mission claim that Gecko will be going higher than anyone has ever been

Anyone has ever been
No living creature, including humans, has ever gone as far into space as Gecko will be going

A distant canine
Gecko will be a lonely and isolated dog in space

Drifting in space time
Gecko will be floating around in space, outside of the normal constraints of time and space

Just need a bit of space I'm
Gecko wants some space and time to himself before embarking on the mission

Not used to this pressure
Gecko is not accustomed to the pressure and attention he is receiving as part of the mission

Surely there's somebody better qualified?
Gecko doubts that he is the best candidate for the mission and wonders if there is someone more qualified

But I guess the sooner I go
Despite his doubts, Gecko ultimately decides to go on the mission as soon as possible

The sooner I can come home
Gecko is looking forward to returning home after completing the mission

I used to say
Gecko reflects on his past beliefs

There must be more to life than this
Gecko used to believe that there was something more meaningful he could be doing with his life

But it's the normal life I miss
Despite the challenges and struggles of his previous life, Gecko longs for the familiarity and comfort of normalcy

And when I go
Gecko is thinking about what will happen when he departs for the mission

Just don't leave me behind
Gecko is afraid of being left behind and longs for the companionship of those he loves when he is in space
