The core of Geggy Tah comprises Greg Kurstin and Tommy Jordan. Each of them has a younger sister who was unable to pronounce her brother's name when very young; "Geggy" and "Tah" were the baby girls' mispronunciations of their brother's names.
Geggy Tah's first release, Grand Opening, appeared in 1994 on David Byrne's Luaka Bop label. For their 1996 release Sacred Cow, they added drummer Daren Hahn to the lineup. Also on Luaka Bop, the album spawned the hit single "Whoever You Are." The song appeared in a Mercedes commercial circa 2001.
In 1999, the band announced a new album entitled Music Inspired by The Fragrance, and released two songs ("Space Heater" and "Sweat") on the web in mp3 format. However (in part because of Luaka Bop's move from Warner Brothers to Virgin Records) the album went unreleased until 2001, by which point it had acquired a new title: Into The Oh.

Before the sunrise like a bomb exploding
A quick, cheap, massive way to kill a lot of fish
So we can eat and loaf - I got a load of this
Bomb Fishing - we don't need any worms
Bomb Fishing - there's nothing to squirm
Bomb Fishing - except for those afraid
Do you wanna take a closer look at what's goin' down
Then you gotta look up and all around the town
Folks need food and not just soap operatic superfrantic
Tell-uh-vision pope dope goes
Bomb Fishing - it's food on the table
Bomb Fishing - we're killed 'cause we're able
Bomb Fishing - and if you're into fables
Bomb Fishing - Flipper's only on cable
A long time ago ice covered the land
People forgot about their long intestines
They say bananas are for monkeys and vegetables are boring
But if we can't remember our diets we'll be snoring and going
Bomb Fishing - there's nothing left to fish
Bomb Fishing - not even snorkelling tourists
Bomb Fishing - where can we get a meal
Bmmb Fishing - we'll have to heat a hook made of steel
There's nothing in the water
No cute little otters
We ate for a day
Bomb Fishing - shall we kill another bay
The song "Bomb Fishing" by Geggy Tah is a satirical take on the practice of using explosives to fish, which is illegal and environmentally destructive. The lyrics depict the singer waking up early in the morning to go bomb fishing, which he describes as a "quick, cheap, massive way to kill a lot of fish." The chorus repeats the phrase "Bomb Fishing" and contrasts it with traditional fishing methods that involve using worms and hooks. The lyrics also touch on the theme of food security, suggesting that bomb fishing is a way for people to obtain food when other methods are not available.
The song's verses indicate a criticism of consumer culture and the media. The lyrics mention "soap operatic superfrantic / Tell-uh-vision pope dope," suggesting that people are distracted by television shows and advertising rather than focusing on issues like food security and environmental sustainability. The final verse alludes to the consequences of overfishing and loss of biodiversity, with the line "There's nothing in the water / No cute little otters / We ate for a day."
Overall, "Bomb Fishing" is a witty and satirical commentary on a serious issue, drawing attention to the environmental and social consequences of destructive fishing practices.
