Dem a wolf in sheep clothing
And dem not aware about dem doings
Just tell dem come out ya
You nuh see seh Babylon want flood out ya
To much blood out ya
Far away from life
Hoping that they will return
Far away from life but until that day
Jah jah fire nuh stop burn
(Repeat)
In the earliest morning we see dem walking about
Congregating with dem friend dem keep talking about
But if we left outta the west we still go find dem a south
Cause a hatred dem a spread with
Every word out of dem mouth
Put my trust Ma the father and me do it without a doubt
And dem try and try again and still dem cyaan get me out
Never lose mi track and no me nuh change mi route
Minds of illusion must get shot out
Far away from life
Distant away
Hoping that they will return
Far away from life but until that day
Jah jah fire nuh stop burn
(Repeat)
So far til some a dem drift to the left
But if dem drift to the right them have no regrets
And dem nuh have no pity and no respect
But we hafi follow through with the trend wha jah set
What you waiting for
Question again why you hating for
Tell mi what is it you hesitating for
You nuh see the golden rule you keep breaking
Far away from life
Distant away
Hoping that they will return
Far away from life but until that day
Jah jah fire nuh stop burn
(Repeat)
Tell dem come out ya too much blood out ya
You nuh see seh Babylon a want to flood out ya
Dem nuh love out ya dem only doubt ya
East west north and south ya
Dem acting proud but a we move the crowd ya
Can't hurt dem people with your oil and your powder
All when louder showing cold shoulder
Dem acting bold but a we a move bolder
In "Distant Away," Gentleman speaks about the need to be cautious about the nefarious intentions of people around us. He describes these individuals as wolves in sheep's clothing who are not even aware of their own wrongdoings. He urges these deceivers to come out and realizes the harm they are causing. Gentleman also laments the violence and strife that are so ever-present in society. He envisions a world in which these negative elements are distant, hoping that one day things will change for the better. However, Gentleman recognizes that as long as people do not change their ways, Jah's fire will continue to burn relentlessly.
Gentleman highlights the importance of trusting the father, Jah, to avoid falling victim to the illusions that these deceivers perpetuate. He also emphasizes that the negative thoughts and words that these individuals spread need to be eradicated. He urges people to follow Jah's set trend and not drift towards alluring temptations that could lead them astray. Gentleman calls out the haters and asks them to question themselves and what's causing them to hate. He reminds them of the golden rule that they keep breaking and encourages them to come out.
