I Surrender
Geoff Bullock Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
To the knowledge of Your love
And opening my eyes
You light the way
To love You
Words alone cannot express
All the hope that You have placed
In between each heartbeat, Lord
I surrender
I surrender to You
I surrender to You
Everything I am and ever hope to be
I surrender to You
You gently pick me up
Wash me with your love
And opening my ears
You speak the Word
Healing
Releasing all the hurts and fears
By the hope that You have placed
Within me
In between each heartbeat, Lord
I surrender
I surrender to You
I surrender to You
Everything I am and ever hope to be
I surrender to You
Geoff Bullock's song "I Surrender" is a powerful expression of faith and devotion to God. The opening lines, "You're softening my heart to the knowledge of Your love and opening my eyes, You light the way," shows that the singer is feeling a sense of comfort and direction from God. The next lines, "Words alone cannot express all the hope that You have placed within me," conveys a deep sense of gratitude and awe at God's goodness. The singer can only offer surrender to God, acknowledging that they place everything they are and hope to be in His loving care.
The second verse talks about being lifted and washed by God's love, and how His Word heals and releases hurts and fears. The line "By the hope that You have placed within me, in between each heartbeat, Lord, I surrender," highlights the idea that our faith is not only something we experience occasionally but is a constant presence at the very core of our beings. The song repeats the phrase "I Surrender to You" multiple times, emphasizing the depth and significance of this act of surrender.
Overall, the lyrics express the singer's trust and reliance on God's love and grace. It is evident that the song is an expression of a personal relationship with God, and surrendering everything to Him is an act of love, faith, and trust.
