Someday
Glass Tiger Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

When I come home you telephone
To say you're waiting for me
I ask you why, I hear you cry
But you're still waiting for me

Someday you'll be shedding your tears
To cry over me
Someday I'll be losing this fear

Now I'm alone, you telephone
To tell me you don't need me
I ask you why, you tell me lies
And say the truth would hurt me

Ooh, someday you'll be shedding your tears
To cry over me
Someday I'll be losing this fear

Oh, oh someday

Down in the street where lovers meet
That's where I'm waiting for you
In the streets where lovers meet
I'm still waiting for you

Ooh someday you'll be shedding your tears
And then you'll cry over me (cry over me)
Someday I'll be losing this fear, oh

Someday you'll be shedding your tears

And then you'll cry over me (cry over me)
Someday I'll be losing this fear, oh

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Glass Tiger's song "Someday" depicts a complicated relationship where one person is unsure of their feelings while the other is waiting patiently. The singer of the song comes home to receive a call from their partner who says they are waiting for them. The singer is confused about why their partner is waiting for them and asks why they are crying. Despite their confusion, the partner continues to wait for them.

In the second verse, the situation is reversed where the singer is now alone and receives a call from their partner saying they do not need them anymore. The singer is surprised by this statement and asks why. Their partner tells them lies, afraid that the truth would hurt them. Despite the lies, the singer is confident that someday their partner will shed tears over them and they will overcome their fear of being alone.

The chorus repeats the sentiment of waiting for someday when their roles will change. The final verse takes place where lovers meet, and the singer is still waiting for their partner. The song ends with the repetition of the chorus, emphasizing the hope for a future where both parties shed tears and overcome their fears.

Overall, "Someday" highlights the complexities of relationships and how feelings can be confusing and uncertain. The hope for a future where both parties overcome their fears and shed tears suggests a desire for emotional honesty and clarity in the relationship.

To be born in '70, and teenage into the 80's and young adult into the 90's, couldn't have asked for a better time. I feel truly blessed and grateful for this time. The music from these generations was pure talents.

I took this generation for granted when I was a kid, but now looking back on it I can really appreciate how great the music was.

For those of us living as kids in the 80’s, we lived through the best music era in our lifetimes and we didn’t even know it. We just enjoyed life as simple as it was, yet so complicated at the time it seemed. No social media. Listening to the radio. Getting together with friends in real life. Passing notes to each other in school. Talking for hours on the phone to friends, our boyfriends / girlfriends and ignoring call waiting. Life was so good! ❤️❤️❤️
