In This City
Glass Towers Lyrics

Sitting here, like you got on
You're sitting on this train
Sitting here, like you got on
You're sitting on this train

Cause in this city, in this town I dine
Cause in this city, in this town I dine
Oh I,

Cause I loved you from the start,
from the start
Cause I loved you from the start,
from the start,
from the start

But if you speak before the camera starts
Before they take the other part
You must find the answer
looking through the eyes of someone else

Cause in this city, in this town I dine
Cause in this city, in this town I dine
Oh I,

Cause I loved you from the start,
from the start
Cause I loved you from the start,
from the start,
from the start

This world is not a sink life
Do all the times that I don't know
Do all the times that I do not know

This world is not a sink life

Do all the times that I don't know
Do all the times that I do not know

Overall Meaning

The song “In This City” by Glass Towers has a melancholic tone and speaks to the bittersweet feeling of unrequited love. The lyrics convey the frustration and sadness of the singer who appears to be sitting on a train, perhaps traveling across a city, with unspoken words and unfulfilled love on his mind. The repetition of the line “Cause in this city, in this town I dine” suggests the singer longs for the company of their lover, but unable to be together, instead resorts to dining alone.

The repeated line “Cause I loved you from the start, from the start” emphasizes the singer's deep affection for the other person. However, the second verse alludes to a conflict that may have led to their separation, “But if you speak before the camera starts, before they take the other part”, suggesting that their love was perhaps disrupted by external factors. The last verse, “This world is not a sink life, Do all the times that I don't know, Do all the times that I do not know” is somewhat cryptic, but may be interpreted as a message of hope and perseverance in the face of adversity.
