First Love
Grace and Julian Lyrics

Yeah we never see it coming
Feeling so safe in your arms
Been trying to find
The perfect kinda love when
I didn't have to look very far
Cause when I look in your eyes
I see the future
I don't know what to do
When I see your smile
Astonished in your gaze you
Felt so dear to my heart
Having you close
Is the perfect kinda feeling
Stuck in my head when we're apart
Cause when I look in your eyes
I see the future
When it calls me
I don't know what to do
But you're always in my mind
I think about the future
And I know that it'd be lonely
Without you
Cause love at first sight
Didn't exist until I met you
Love at first sight
Thinking about you all the time
The lyrics to Grace and Julian's song First Love are a reflection on the true nature of love and how sometimes it catches us by surprise. The opening line, "We are so blind, yeah we never see it coming," speaks to the idea that love is not always something we can plan for or control. The feeling of safety and comfort that comes with being in a relationship is addressed in the second line, but the search for the perfect kind of love has not been an easy one. The singer acknowledges that they didn't have to look very far to find their true love, and when they look into their lover's eyes, they see the future.
The chorus reinforces the idea that the future is uncertain and that the singer doesn't know what to do when it calls them. When they look at their lover's smile and get lost in their gaze, they feel so dear to their own heart. They reflect on the perfect kind of feeling of being close to their lover, and how the memory sticks in their head when they are apart. The singer is always thinking about their lover, knowing that the future would be lonely without them. The ultimate message is that love at first sight is real and that the singer experienced it when they met their lover.

We are so blind
We don't usually see the things coming
Yeah we never see it coming
Most times we're unaware of what's about to happen
Feeling so safe in your arms
I feel secure and protected when I'm with you
Been trying to find
I've been searching for
The perfect kinda love when
A genuine and ideal love in which
I didn't have to look very far
I didn't have to search for too long
Cause when I look in your eyes
Because when I gaze into your eyes
I see the future
I get this feeling about what's to come
When it calls me
But when the future beckons,
I don't know what to do
I can't tell exactly what to do
When I see your smile
As I catch sight of your lovely smile
Astonished in your gaze you
I'm awestruck drowning in those beautiful eyes of yours
Felt so dear to my heart
I'm overwhelmed because you mean so much to me
Having you close
Being near to you
Is the perfect kinda feeling
Gives me the ultimate sense of satisfaction
Stuck in my head when we're apart
I can't stop thinking about you when you're not here
But you're always in my mind
You frequently cross my thoughts
I think about the future
I imagine what lies ahead for us
And I know that it'd be lonely
I strongly feel that being alone
Without you
Without you would be terrible
Cause love at first sight
Because I never believed in the concept of falling in love instantly
Didn't exist until I met you
Until I found you, that's when I knew it was real
Love at first sight
I fell head over heels for you instantly
Thinking about you all the time
You're always on my mind
