His first solo album,'The Sky is Too High', was released in 1998 and has a very muted, uncommercial sound. 'TSITH' was followed by 'The Golden D' which features two covers of the band Mission Of Burma. The next album to come was 'Crow Sit On Blood Tree', which has some of his most ethereal tracks to date on, and is very lo-fi. Fourth album 'The Kiss Of Morning' shows Graham developing as an artist in his own right and the songs take on a more fleshed out and accomplished form. However, it was not until the release of 'Freakin' Out' in 2004 that Coxon had a solo mainstream hit. 'Happiness In Magazines', Graham's fifth album, is largely considered to be his most accessible and complete work, featuring frantic, slick guitar-pop of the highest order.
In 2006 Graham Coxon released his sixth solo album, 'Love Travels at Illegal Speeds', preceeded by the UK Top 20 single 'Standing On My Own Again'. 'Love Travels at Illegal Speeds' shows Coxon branching out to try his hand at some new sounds as well as tightening the punk-pop formula that is his hallmark. The album was released in two formats, with a DVD containing interviews and live tracks as an optional extra.
It marks Coxon's first album away from his now-defunct indie label 'Transcopic'. Coxon also played guitar on Peter Doherty's 2009 solo album Grace / Wastelands.
11th May 2009, Coxon released his 7th album 'The Spinning Top'. 2009 saw Coxon embark on numerous gigs with Blur, including headlining Glastonbury Festival.

Standing On My Own Again
Graham Coxon Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Sinking in the sand and I can't turn round,
The future's looking black and it's a sight to see,
Just a thousand grey waves crashing over me,
Just a thousand grey waves breaking over me.
How it's happening to me
Why can't I ever see?
Watching till you're out of sight,
Dreaming I did something right,
Standing on my own again.
Water in my lungs and it's a pain to breathe,
Salt is in my eyes and it's a pain to see,
I can't stand the pressure and you think I can,
Just don't wanna see you going down the pan,
Just don't wanna see you going down the pan.
How it's happening to me
Why can't I ever see?
Am I gonna let you leave without a sound?
Watching till you're out of sight,
Dreaming I did something right,
Standing on my own again.
The lyrics of Graham Coxon's song, Standing On My Own Again, express the feelings of heartbreak and despair, as the singer stands on the shore, watching his relationship sink and disappear into the horizon. The imagery of the ship going down in the sand into thousand grey waves crashing over him, is a powerful metaphor for the relationship ending, and how overwhelming and painful it is for him. He is feeling helpless and lost, unable to turn his situation around, and the future looks bleak and uncomfortable.
As the singer sings, he questions himself about why things are happening to him and why he can't see a way out. He wonders whether he'll let his partner leave without saying anything, and he's left watching her walk out of his life. The phrase "just don't wanna see you going down the pan" suggests he might still care for his partner, even if the relationship is over. The lines "water in my lungs and it's a pain to breathe, Salt is in my eyes and it's a pain to see," suggest the depth of the pain the singer is going through, and he is struggling with the pressure of it all. Nonetheless, by the end of the song, he finds a way to move forward, albeit standing on his own once again.
Overall, Graham Coxon's Standing On My Own Again is a powerful and poignant song, with lyrics that paint a vivid picture of heartbreak, despair, and ultimately, healing.
