Unlike bumblebee, I think it actually makes sense that hot rod fought in ww2, considering that he lives with old transformers, I can only assume that hot rod arrived on earth much earlier than bumblebee in the bayverse. And my guess is that after the second world war he decided to retire and found his way to UK, where he meets up with bulldog and the Autobot lieutenant

8:18 the weapons hot rod was wielding were actually tonfa and sai, tonfas are basically batons but wielded differently while sai are dagger like weapons with three sharp point blades,with the middle one being the sharpest and longest while the other two being short and much blunter. Which is funny consider the fact that hot rod never used those kind of weapons during g1.

I like to think that the vehicles that both Bumblebee and Hot Rod briefly used in the World War II were just temporary vehicle modes and when they transformed, the two Autobots instantly reverted back to their preferred military vehicles.

I have a theory on the vehicle modes and why they are different form their robot modes. My theory is that maybe hot rod and bumblebee scanned 2 vehicle mods but I doubt it since they later one use one vehicle mod but I believe so since this also applies to drift having a Bugatti veyron and a helicopter in AOE. But in TLK he ditches the helicopter and instead just scans a Mercedes GTR 2017. That’s my theory but let me know if you guys have a better one

As an alternate theory, I believe the reason why Bumblebee has no recollection of fighting in WWII or meeting Sir Burton is that he was mistaken for Centurion. The misunderstanding is likely due to them sharing a common robot body type. I am suggesting this theory in hopes that it would reconcile the comics and other tie-in media to the films.
In case you are unfamiliar, Centurion is a Maximal from the Generation 1 comics published by IDW from 2005 until 2018. In the Revolutionaries series, it is stated that Centurion suffered amnesia when arriving on Earth and was reprogrammed into a duplicate of Bumblebee.

It would have been so cool to see hot rod as a gtr and I think if hot rod was with them then he would eventually get one of drifts blades and become a samurai maybe making his own swords at one point giving him the duel melee weapons I think he would have helped take down onslaught and would have been on the alien ship (don’t remember if he was on there originally ) and would have tried to talk some sense in to prime

2 things: first off, I think they had parts for different vehicles because they could have been Triple Changers, just like Shatter and Dropkick were. Second of all, Hot Rods DOTM concept art looks a lot like Dino/Mirage, with the red color scheme and forearm blades.

Nice video. In the reboot, what I like to happen is if he returns I kinda want him to have his G1 design but have the gun that slows time from the bayverse. The reason is while the reboot is largely G1 based, there are hints from the Bayformer like Bee lose his voice and had similar face and face mask. This is why while he's likely going to be in he's G1 form in the reboot at least give him something from the bayverse at least for a little as a Easter egg like the gun he had that slows time inside the bubble

I have a theory about how bee and hotrods robot modes don't match their vehicle modes. (Disclaimer, I know nothing about history so this theory may not add up completely)
What if bumblebee and hotrod showed up in those fancy car forms instead of as armoured vehicles so they didn't appear threatening but then scanned new vehicle modes to use the vehicle armour as their armour (I know it never shows them scanning anything else or if there are other vehicles nearby but this is the best I've got)

I propose that the in-universe reason for Bumblebee and Hot Rod’s robot modes not having parts from the vehicles that they actually transform into is because they are from another vehicle mode altogether that is in their memory banks. Allow me to elaborate. Since first becoming a Transformers fan, I have hypothesized that a Cybertronian can save the scan schematics from a previous alt-mode or two in their memory, so if they wish, they may revert to it instead of their current vehicle forms. So I think Bumblebee and Hot Rod once scanned entirely different vehicles and changed them for that one instance for infiltration, before reverting to their other forms, and causing the change in their robot modes that we see.

Ah something I haven't seen fans talk about while talking about things that should have been explained vs us filling in the blanks. Some things I think are so obvious but I learned how some fans argue the movies are so bad you have to turn your brain off. Yet I think I could answer everything fans argue is missing. In the WW2 flash back scene you can see the autobot logo on bumblebees head so basically prime told bee and hot rod to go to earth and defend the British against germans when there done hide so basically hot rod defending Vivian made bumblebee go back to Cybertron that takes events in bumblebee movie when prime told bee to go back to earth and find a base and later on takes events in Transformers Rise of the beasts before events of transformers 1

Also hot rod and bumblebee might have had multiple forms. Bumblebee could use his Mercedes mode to chauffeur someone special (Churchill) and tank mode for battle. The tank armor appears in robot mode for battle purposes. Boom. You have your answer.

Thats probably Bays take on it. I never did understand the discrepancy between why some have weapons built in but some have to carry weapons.

@Theorymus when you said hot rod and and bumblebee have different parts to the vehicle mode I think that’s the case because both of them scanned there vehical and they scanned the amor on the other vehicle parts

Ok I'm pretty sure time travel is a thing in Bay's Transformers simply based on Bumblebee being in WWII, despite seeing him crash land on Earth in the first film, and Hot Rod is visibly a Lamborghini Centenario in the photo with the Order of the Whitwickans from 1901. It's either time travel or time resets on Earth and a loop starts where Transformers clearly outlive humans and get to live out history all over again as it repeats itself, but it ends when Unicron is destroyed because it marks the end of Earth, or Quintessa is responsible for the loop.

Anything is possible when writers lose track of the main story and add a bunch of random dogshit with the only goal being outdoing their previous work.

I am someone who is 38 years old and have watched most if not all the early Transformer cartoons and a movie made in I think the 80's and when they made the first Bay movie I was shocked that Hot Rod was not in it , I thought he should have been in place of Jazz's role.
