The band was formed in 1993 under the name Grip as a five-piece band featuring former Overkill bass player Bobby Gustafson on second guitar. After Gustafson and bass player Chaz Grimaldi left the band, Grip Inc hired Jason Viebrooks (Heathen) and recorded their first album, The Power Of Inner Strength. The release of the album was followed by European tour with Motörhead and, later, with Kreator. After releasing their second album in 1997, Viebrooks was replaced by Stuart Carruthers.
The release of their third album, Solidify, in 1999 was followed by a co-headlining tour with Italian band Lacuna Coil (one of the many bands produced by Sorychta). Despite Dave Lombardo's return in Slayer in 2001, Grip Inc released a fourth album in 2004.
Since then, Sorychta founded Eyes Of Eden and Enemy Of the Sun while Gus Chamber joined Squealer A.D.. On 16th August 2008, Gus Chambers joined Enemy Of The Sun on stage for an exclusive Grip Inc. oriented set In Bochum (Germany).
Unfortunately, Gus Chambers passed away on October 13, 2008 at the age of 52. Chambers, who resided in Coventry, England, reportedly took his own life.

Mounth of the Abyss
A world that owes nothing
Trapped in an emotionless empire
Silent are endless parades
Respect like smoke
Lost in cyclones
Breathing along the isle
The gavel crashes upon
A system built for
The substitute fix only to shatter
Crisp brittle sorrow
Smacks hard into melting faces
Friction sinks into rotting masses
Swallowed by seas of sand
Deep in the bloody soil
Buried under the sins of our fathers
Bodies splinter
From the bowels of sorrow
Escaping to twist in the wind
The scent of darkness
The lyrics of Grip Inc.'s song, Descending Darkness, suggest a society that has lost touch with its emotions and has become a place of endless parades where respect is fleeting. The singer is trapped in this emotionless empire, and the lines "breathing along the isle of no return" hint at the idea that escape is unlikely. The system in which they live is represented by a gavel that crashes down and shatters, revealing the substitute fix that was put in place. This reveals the basic futility of the system that was meant to help, but instead results in "crisp brittle sorrow" that "smacks hard into melting faces."
The second half of the song gets more gruesome as bodies splinter and sink into "rotting masses" that are swallowed by seas of sand. The contrast between the first half's societal critique and the second half's visceral imagery suggests that the societal structure has decayed to such an extent that the literal rotting of the masses is visible. The singer is still trying to escape, but the darkness that surrounds them is all-encompassing.
Overall, the song paints a bleak image of a society that has lost touch with its emotions, and the true feelings of the people are being replaced by a "substitute fix" that doesn't work.
