We Ride
Grits Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Come and get in my vehicle,
We ride, we ride,
Ride life and see it through,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard,
We came from the bottom, grinding,
We fought to the bitter end,
Still all we got is this,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard.
I approach the edge of the Earth, looking over the ravine,
What I wonder if it's offered,
Write a story like a book that solved it, ending altered,
How many of us will we boost?
We fall at the final stage,
Got a chapter dedicated to you and your cause, got to find your page,
Explosive, hey?
This success is riches, fame we can't escape from gaining,
Stretching, straining,
Is this for Joseph off the plate?
Is this entertainment, or it is?
Is this the monster you're not sure that remains?
My stains hook the ceilings, dealings,
False are staking their claims,
We're taking the game,
Own it 'til you assume at the source,
Loom to be consumed like black folks and their cars,
The span of land we reach across,
Man, it's just a brand, a band to pay the way,
To practice what we preach, it costs,
Get to know us on the ground we both share,
Pull me down, and please don't go there,
If you're crew, then let's get it cracking,
Now can I get a real loud "Oh yeah"?
Want a better, better self-side fast,
Let us on, better fly right past,
Reading out the rear-view is a blast,
Can't hear you - that's some nasty gas.
We ride, we ride,
Come and get in my vehicle,
We ride, we ride,
Ride life and see it through,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard,
We came from the bottom, grinding,
And all we got is this,
We fought to the bitter end,
Still all we got is this,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard.
My vocabulary's necessary, embarrassing adversaries,
Ordinary never - we're forever on the contrary,
Visionaries raising every standard, never secondary,
Living legendary with this message we've been blessed to carry,
We bypass craters and blast past haters,
And destined to outlast the timeline as one of hip-hop's greatest, eternally speaking,
Seeking the Lord's guidance for reaching the lost,
Teachers of all, speaking what was written, reaping the costs of life, and that in abundance,
In every moment murdered and plundered, questioned and wondered,
Reason we even breathing,
Cleaving and never leaving,
Receiving, tasted and seeing,
Wasted and came believing,
Addicted, gigging and phening,
Pawning my past ways to dawn on my last days,
Commissioned and freed slaved,
Laughing at open graves,
With night-vision precision though the black tint and fallacies,
Finishing first - now don't you wanna ride with me?
We ride, we ride,
Come and get in my vehicle,
We ride, we ride,
Ride life and see it through,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard,
We came from the bottom, grinding,
And all we got is this,
We fought to the bitter end,
Still all we got is this,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard.
Ride, we ride,
Come and get in my vehicle,
We ride, we ride,
Ride life and see it through,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard,
We came from the bottom, grinding,
And all we got is this,
We fought to the bitter end,
Still all we got is this,
We work all day and we grind all night,
It's been hard for us,
Hard for...hard for...hard.
