Legendary salsa group started playing traditional folklore in the 1960s, later turning to tropical style. As the band was getting involved in the local scene, a growing number of followers made them one of the most popular acts all over the country. Led by singer Gustavo Aguado, the 22-piece act had the opportunity to go beyond Venezuelan frontiers while releasing its music in the U.S. and Europe in the late '90s.

The lyrics of Guaco's song Bandido describe a love story in which the singer commits the act of stealing. He claims to have stolen the woman's skin, soft kisses, and gaze, as well as her heart, every caress he felt, her love, and fresh breath. The character even refers to himself as a thief of her life and existence, because he cannot imagine living without her. He expresses this feeling by saying, "Dejame robar tu vida que sin ti no se que haría, por favor" (Let me steal your life because without you, I don't know what I would do, please). He wants to hide every part of her and keep her to himself.
The chorus refers to the main character as a bandido (bandit), the thief of the woman's affection, who sneaks into her window and steals her soul, but he is also afraid of losing her, which he expresses in the lines "El que ya no sabe si a su lado de la cama a ti te encontrará" (The one who doesn't know if he will find you beside him in bed).
