The band consists of Adam Gardner and Ryan Miller on guitar and vocals and Brian Rosenworcel on percussion. Multi-instrumentalist and backup vocalist Joe Pisapia played with the band from 2003-2010. Luke Reynolds took Pisapia's place to tour with the band for their 2010 album, Easy Wonderful, and has remained with the band since. The band is noted for its catchy, poppy melodies, and the distinctive hand-drumming on percussion. They are also known for their humor, including a joke album released in 2003, The Meowstro Sings: Guster's Keep It Together, wherein the lyrics are replaced with (off-melody) meowing.
The band has released eight studio albums which are, in chronological order, Parachute, Goldfly, Lost and Gone Forever, Keep It Together, Ganging Up On the Sun, Easy Wonderful, Evermotion, and their most recent, Look Alive, which was released on January 18th, 2019. In addition, they have released a total of eleven live albums, spanning the years 2003-2015.
Satellite
Guster Lyrics

Hanging on a wall of stars
Are you what I think you are?
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
Elevator to the moon
Whistling our favorite tune
Trying to get a closer view
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite
Maybe you will always be
Just a little out of reach
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite
You're my satellite
The lyrics of Guster's song "Satellite" are open to interpretation and are often associated with themes of longing, distance, and the difficulty of maintaining connections. The opening lines, "Shining like a work of art/hanging on a wall of stars/are you what I think you are?" suggest a sense of wonder and amazement, evoking the image of a starry night sky. The singer then addresses the subject of the song directly, saying "You're my satellite," and describing their role as a passenger-side companion that lights up the sky. The imagery paints a picture of someone who is both aloof and unattainable, yet also a source of comfort and familiarity.
The second verse continues the same themes, as the singer and the subject of the song ride an "elevator to the moon," trying to "get a closer view" of each other. The lyrics suggest that this connection is not always easy to maintain, as the subject may always be "just a little out of reach." Ultimately, the song seems to be about the attempt to maintain a connection with someone who is far away, either physically or emotionally.
Overall, "Satellite" is a poignant and introspective song that captures the feeling of loneliness and longing that often comes with the pursuit of connection and understanding. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but they ultimately express a sense of hope that these connections can be maintained, even if they are not always perfect or easy to achieve.

Shining like a work of art,
Gorgeous, I am torn apart
I realize you are too far……..
You’re my fantasy,
You’ll never be a part of me,
So I just dream,
nothing more ,it seems,
here my feelings lay unseen
your my fantasy,
Perfection ,in whole,
I just can’t seem to let….go,
Of my desires,
oh no………..
You’re my fantasy,
You’ll never be a part of me,
So I continue to dream,
nothing more ,it seems,
here again my feelings lay unseen
Your my fantasty,
I realize that I'm nothing,
So I offer a song ,
Here I sing,
You’re my fantasy,
You’ll never be a part of me,
So I just continue to dream,
nothing more ,it seems,
here my feelings lay unseen
Your my fantasy,
Your my fantsasy

That's true. But sometimes the only reason something is out of reach is because you want it to be.
