Sunday Morning
HOLLIE STEPHENSON Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I need you to be
Less than a lover
Just to be there
I need your shelter
Not the kiss that weakensme at my knees

Lose touch of our senses as the sky falls down
I′m left feeling hostage tied up in my bedroom gown
Oh it's so easy to forget
On a sunday morning
My mind cannot rest
On a sunday morning

Oh you left me stranded
Raw in my flesh
Crippled beneath images of your hands clawing at my neck
Soothed by wordsrolling off the tip of your tongue for the next vulnerable one
Lose touch of our senses as the sky falls down
I′m left feeling hostage tied up in my bedroom gown
Oh it's so easy to forget
On a sunday morning
Now my mind cannot rest
On a sunday morning
Curious eyes tears brimming inside
Inquisitive minds reaching out their hands
To grasp what they lost
To touch only to feel what they can't have

Oh it′s so easy to forget
On a sunday morning
Now my mind cannot rest
On a sunday morning

Oh it′s so easy to forget
On a sunday morning

Now my mind cannot rest
On a sunday, Sunday morning

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of HOLLIE STEPHENSON's song "Sunday Morning" suggest that the singer is longing for companionship, but not necessarily a romantic relationship. The singer seems to be in a vulnerable state and seeks solace in someone who can provide them with shelter and comfort. The line "I need you to be less than a lover" emphasizes that they are not looking for intimate gestures or physical affection, but rather emotional support during difficult times. The singer also reveals that they have been hurt by someone in the past, and the memory of their previous experience is still raw and painful. The line "oh you left me stranded raw in my flesh, crippled beneath images of your hands clawing at my neck" indicates that the previous relationship was violent and has left the singer traumatized.

The imagery of losing touch of one's senses as the sky falls down and feeling like a hostage in one's own bedroom creates a sense of fear and isolation. The singer's mind cannot rest, even on a Sunday morning, which traditionally symbolizes a day of rest and relaxation. The final lines of the song suggest that the singer is still struggling to come to terms with their past experiences, but they are not alone in their pain. The lines "curious eyes tears brimming inside, inquisitive minds reaching out their hands, to grasp what they lost, to touch only to feel what they can't have" suggest that others around them are also struggling to make sense of their own losses and are trying to find comfort in others.

Where has this girl been, I have just come across this singer. I do think that this Girl Holly is a Fantastic singer, so soulful, and her vocal range is incredible. . I just hope she does not go down the road of drugs and alcohol Like Amy Winehouse did. Why hasn't she been on the radio or the television. ☮️🙏🤗 Peace to all.
