Well you would have to wonder how Superman would respond to Donald Trump's requests?

Say Supes is like his "Dark Knight Returns" version where he is ordered by the U.S President to do stuff. In that comic he stops a nuclear missile from hitting the mainland.

Example:Trump orders him to go into North Korea and wipe out their Nuclear depot, then to Pyonyang where he brings down their regime and then grabs Kim-jong Un and takes him back to the United States to stand trial.

How would China and Russia respond to that? What would the Repercussions be for the U.S to order such hasty actions? If they send Nukes in retaliation, could Kal-EL stop them all?

How would Superman deal with the Middle East crisis, gun issues, environment and immigration problems?

Besides, if Trump went crazy enough to order Superman to teach CNN and other news outlets accused of "Fake News", a lesson and he ends up using his heat vision to destroy their head buildings to terrorize them. How would the public react to that and to Trump ordering that?

@MissMysterie

In all honesty, I don't understand why people hate on this movie. (their absolute right though, we don't have to have the same taste for everything). I already explained in legnth why I love this movie (I used and still dislike with a passion superman from the cartoons and the previous movies and the comics, but I love the one presented in MoS and BvS) they humanized this character, made him relatable for me. He's not "punching his way to give hope" or "telling people to have hope" he SHOWS.

this movie (and MoS are packed with symbolism and subtext, packed with second reading and so many details that make my brain boil with excitment. It makes you think and interpret the character. it's not spoon-fed or simple (which can quickly become boring for me). This superman at this VERY moment (is a guy who's trying to do the right thing and gets shit on by everyone. something anyone can relate to. but what does he do when he's suffering form so much bad press? he still tries to do his best. which in return gives me confidence and hope. but here's the thing, in this scene (when you compare to previous scenes in both MoS and the beginning of the movie. you are shown that Superman is both feared by many people -which is a reaction many foreigners get, which also makes it hit home for me and/or many believers if you take the "superman is jesus" allegory) but he's also fetishized by the ones he saved. (this very scene during the day of the dead? have you seen the way people touch him? approach him like he's some messiah? they don't care about CLark, they don't even care about Superman as a person. he's just a symbol, a solution to their issue, the saviour.

And Henry Cavill so beautiful portrayed how conflicted Superman is at this moment. this is a brilliant actor really, but people only want to rely on what is said instead of what is shown. look at his face! look at how he carries himself. look at all the pent-up sorrow, anguish, fear even he feels at various times. he doesn't need to say it, he shows it. look at him and decode his emotions instead of waiting for him to spell it out for you.

Superman should never be one or the other. he should be seen as what he is and what we could all be (hence why the end of the movie really touched me because I understood that was the message). you don't need a demigod/god/alien to come and save your ass and do the right thing. everyone can be superman, every single being on Earth can do the right thing and be good and kind to the other. Everyone can and many people already do give their everything to do the right thing.

I really couldn't have some goody two shoes patronizing weirdo like in all his previous incarnations to come and boringly save the day. I couldn't have someone I couldn't relate to come and save the freaking day. I couldn't have the poster child of perfection come and shine a light on the misguided souls (all of them but especially Batman and somehow Wonder Woman. SUperman's first sacrifice (the nuke) is what made her step out of the plane and come back to help humans deal with doomsday. which means, something might have happened in her life that made her go 'fuck humans, deal with your shit alone." and I suspect it's WWII. Batman suffered from terrible losses (death of Jason Todd by the hands of the joker + MoS events and the death of his frienda and all the people working with him. he turned extreme which was actually real. anyone could ever retire and be traumatized alone in their home or be traumatized a la Bruce Wayne and go beat up/kill people. it makes total sense when you reach a moral event horizon and you're Bruce Wayne but superman by being the most human you could ever be (he died, there's nothing more human than dying), by doing this for selfless reasons (one of them being saving his mom) restored faith in humanity in bruce wayne and have him change his ways. (he didn't brand Lex)

there's so much to talk about, it goes beyond A punched B and saved the day. I wish people would be less narrow-minded and actually try to see this movie with a different gaze. what irks me the most is that the same people who will critize BvS for being "too gritty, too dark, too much thinking" would be the very same critizing marvel movies for being "too light-hearted, too childish, not much is at stake". it's the same people who would cry because Watchmen "is too much like the comic book, we don't want to see a comic book on screen" and the same who would say about Avengers Age of ultron "but there's nothing like in the comics". sheeeeesh people!

@MissMysterie

Thank you! You are absolutely right! I know a lot of people would make so much fun of the fight and the "Martha" scene, but to me, it saddens me that they're not willing to look into the scene and go past the act and more into the meaning of it.

That Batman, at this very moment is a man who severed all connection to his humanity. He went from a trauma he never got over with (his parents deaths) and of course the death of Jason Todd (coupled with the Metropolis mess could turn any Batman insane) He crossed a line, grew bitter, sad, filled himself with rage and cynism, maybe despair (after all, he is not delusional. He doesn't mind killing/ sentencing people to death by branding them because ultimately, it proved to be useless or so he thought.) He lost touch with his humanity. At that very moment when he's fighting Superman, he's not the "ideal Batman" we all (more or less) love. He's a broken man, no, he's not even a man per say, he's a broken mind.

When Superman was willing to die to save his mom (a human woman), to save Martha, that shattered the ground for Batman. Suddenly, the creature he was fighting against became human to him. He had a mother. . He became a man to Batman's eyes when he realized Clark/kal-el was willing to die in a selfless manner. to save his mother. It really bothers me when people mock the fact their mothers share the same name! well DUH! while I can't say for sure that the original creators decided to make Batman a counterpart to superman (which I doubt), later in the years that followed, they played a lot around it, especially when Batman joined the justice league. they were polar opposites but they had many things in common. (to make the difference even more symbolic) I'm digressing!

Saying Martha acted like a trigger to Batman. that was his cue to reconnect with his own humanity. just like some people would smile over a song they share with their significant other, or cry when they smell a scent that remind them of a dead loved one, "Martha" forced Bruce to return to the core of his trauma, to the reason he became tthe Batman: his parents deaths! it forced him to reconnect with his humanity and face the myyyyyyriads of emotions he forbade himself from feeling (I did an analysis on it, but it's not the place and time). it's so subtle but Ben Afleck acting showcased it perfectely! from the way he was breathing heavily, to the way his eyes were almost panicking. Bruce returned and Batman was born again.

the ending illustrates your point perfectely: not just his words "I failed him in life, I will honour him in death" or something like that.
Not just his words but also the fact he didn't brand Lex. he changed.

bonus point: normal colours returned on screen! the world has accepted Clark/superman and his light (Hope verily) burned the darkness away. His sacrifice transformed this world and what better way to represent it than to bring colours back?

but oh well... people would completely ignore it :) their rights! I just believe this movie is really amazing and worth debating and analyzing! it's actual DEPHT! actual character developpment through acting/imagery/music... (it has its flaws of course, but it's far from being horrible.)

and I'm a Marvel Fan to begin with. I love Justice League and Batman/wonder woman and Aquaman/flash but I'm not a hardcore fan and surely not one of superman (except movie version) so I'm really not fanboying over DC comics right now but I really did love this movie. <3

Vikram Gandhi: We, as a population on this planet, have been looking for a savior. Ninety percent of people believe in a higher power, and every religion believes in some sort messianic figure. And when this savior character actually comes to Earth, we want to make him abide by our rules? We have to understand that this is a paradigm shift. We have to start thinking beyond politics.

Andrew Sullivan: Are there any moral constraints on this person? We have international law. On this Earth, every act is a political act.

Charlie Rose: Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?

Senator June Finch: To have an individual engaging in these state-level interventions should give us all pause.

Glenn Woodburn: Human beings have a horrible track record of following people with great power, down paths that led to huge human atrocities.

Vikram Gandhi: We have always created icons in our own image. What we've done is we project ourselves on to him. The fact is, maybe he's not some sort of Devil or Jesus character. Maybe he’s just a guy trying to do the right thing.

Neil deGrasse Tyson: We're talking about a being whose very existence challenges our own sense of priority in the Universe. When you go back to Copernicus where he restored the Sun in the center of the known universe, displacing Earth, and you get to Darwinian evolution and you find out we're not special on this Earth; we're just one among other lifeforms. And now we learn that we're not even special in the entire Universe — because there is Superman. There he is, an alien among us. We're not alone.

Charlie Rose: Are you, as a United State Senator, personally comfortable saying to a grieving parent, "Superman could've saved your child, but on principle we did not want him to act."

Senator June Finch: I'm not saying he should't act. I'm saying he shouldn't act unilaterally.

Charlie Rose: What are we talking about here then? Must there be a Superman?

Senator June Finch: There is.
