Oh, Wow! This is one of my favorites from the 70's. Al Knight (WKDU-Philly) used to play this on his knight- Magic segment Sunday afternoons. It didn't matter what I was doing on those lazy, carefree days in my youth (smoked a lot of weed back then. lol) this particular song always made it better/ tastier!! Thanks Odawg96 for uploading this one!!!!

Oh, wow! Philly down! I grew up with this same radio station (this was the first station that I heard Mumia Abu-Jamal's booming voice)! When my musical taste starting changing from WDAS (they used to play artist that had messages in their songs like Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind And Fire, etc) to hearing School Days (Stanley Clarke, Gene Harris, Return To Forever, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, etc.) to WRTI (this was when they used to play Jazz all the time) this was my go-to station for community news that we were not getting from the "news media" that was being broadcast at the time. You are the first person in all of my years looking for music on this site who put WKDU as a reference for good music!

I came on here to listen to another Harris classic from another LP - Losalamitoslatinfunklovesong & it lead me to this one. Damn, but they both still sound good! Precious memories of one of music's best eras.

Thanx for posting Odawg96. I bought this album back in '76 just for this tune. I also liked the cut "Love For Sale" on this same LP.
I especially liked the cover with Gene sitting with the children. I often wondered if that was Relana in the blue dress sitting on his lap. This song reminds me of the fun weekends I spent in N.Y.C. from Ft. Dix,N.J. with my God-Brother "Doc". New York City in the fall;
nothing else like it.

Thanks for the comments. From what I understand, Relana was the girl on his lap. In fact, she's the daughter of the man who wrote the song--Skip Scarborough--based on some things I've read. Speaking of children, another tidbit that I stumbled across is the Gene is the father of Niki Harris...that sista that used to sing with Madonna back in the day when she was at the height of her craziness.

@hankaaron1961 Oddly enough I'd never thought about that before...even though it's completely obvious. Stepney's touch (even though this came out right around the time he passed). Some of the same musicians are involved in both songs...Jerry Peters on keys in particular!

Yep…word is that SHE is Relana, the daughter of the man who wrote the song: Skip Scarborough. That’s the same Skip Scarborough who wrote: “ Can’t Hide Love”; “Love Ballad”; “Love Changes”; “Don’t Ask My Neighbors” and whole lot of other great music.
