I don't why, but I do
I don't know why you thrill me like you do
I don't know why, but you do
You never seem to want my romancing
The only time you hold me is when we're dancing
I don't know why, but I do
You never seem to want my romancing
The only time you hold me is when we're dancing
I don't know why I love you like I do
I don't know why, but I do
The lyrics of Harry 'Sweets' Edison's song "I Don't Know Why" express a sense of confusion and bewilderment about the singer's feelings towards someone he loves. He begins by admitting that he doesn't know why he loves this person, but he certainly does. The singer emphasizes his confusion by repeating the phrase "I don't know why" multiple times throughout the song. He seems to be struggling to understand why he is so taken with this person, despite his inability to receive any romantic advances from them.
Despite the object of the singer's affection not reciprocating his romantic advances, the only time they seem to show any affection is when they are dancing. This highlights the idea that sometimes feelings and emotions can be mystifying and difficult to comprehend. Despite the singer's confusion, he cannot help but love this person, even if he doesn't understand why.
Overall, the lyrics to "I Don't Know Why" express a feeling of uncertainty and confusion regarding the nature of love, highlighting the complexity of human emotion and the difficulty of understanding one's own feelings.

Holdin' me back
Gravity's holdin' me back
I want you to hold out the palm of your hand
Why don't we leave it at that?
Nothin' to say
When everything gets in the way
Seems you cannot be replaced
And I'm the one who will stay, oh
In this world, it's just us
You know it's not the same as it was
In this world, it's just us
You know it's not the same as it was
As it was, as it was
You know it's not the same
Answer the phone
"Harry, you're no good alone
Why are you sittin' at home on the floor?
What kind of pills are you on?"
Ringin' the bell
And nobody's comin' to help
Your daddy lives by himself
He just wants to know that you're well, oh
In this world, it's just us
You know it's not the same as it was
In this world, it's just us
You know it's not the same as it was
As it was, as it was
You know it's not the same
Go home, get ahead, light-speed internet
I don't wanna talk about the way that it was
Leave America, two kids follow her
I don't wanna talk about who's doin' it first
As it was
You know it's not the same as it was
As it was, as it was
