I can tell by the sound of your voice
If you're really in love with me
And you are
And you are
You know I can't lie
If I say to you, "Baby, I love you"
Oh, and I do
Yes, I do
I do
Could it be, that's a phrase you thought never would phase you
Well, baby, you better hold on tight
'Cause I'm the one who's supposed to
Kneel down and propose, well, alright
Ooh, I might, I might
So, when I kiss you goodnight
Just sleep tight with the thought that you'll
Always be caught up in love with me
And you'll dream that the stars up above
Have the answer of whether we'll be
Or whether we won't be in love
Well, we are
Yes, we are
I do
Could it be, that's a phrase you thought never would phase you
Well, baby, oh, you better hold on tight
'Cause I'm the one who's supposed to
Kneel down and propose, well, alright
Oh, I might
Well, I might
So, when I kiss you goodnight
Just sleep tight with the thought that you'll
Always be caught up in love with me
And you'll dream that the stars up above
Have the answer of whether we'll be
Or whether we won't be in love
Well, we are
Yes, we are, ooh
Oh, we are
Girl, we are
Indubitably we are
In the song "We Are In Love," Harry Connick Jr. sings about the depth of his love for his partner, and how he knows they are truly in love with each other. Connick emphasizes the importance of honesty in a relationship, stating that he can never lie to his partner about his true feelings for them. He reassures his partner that he loves them and that they are always going to be caught up in love with each other. He discusses the phrase "I do" that is traditionally used in weddings to indicate a couple's commitment to one another, but notes that his love for his partner goes beyond mere words or ceremony. The song concludes with the repeated declaration that "we are in love."
Overall, "We Are In Love" is a gentle love song with a simple message that resonates with many. Connick's emphasis on honesty and genuine emotion highlights the importance of these qualities in building a lasting, meaningful relationship. The lyrics also express a sense of optimism and commitment, suggesting that the couple's love will endure through the ups and downs of life.
