somewhere, there is a photo of me at age four, in 1967, kneeling in front of our nativity scene playing my toy trumpet for baby Jesus. I wanted to give something to Jesus and to make Him smile. It was the first time I remember feeling the spirit of the Lord so strongly that I cried. Mom and Dad asked me why I was crying, but four-year-olds don't yet have language for, "I felt something way bigger than me and I'm completely overcome!" I still cloud up and rain when I hear this version of this song!

This is the first song I asked my parents to buy. I was 6 or 7 and It was on the radio in the family station wagon. All 8 of us kids became silent. It was the prettiest thing I'd ever heard, My Dad brought it home the next day and It was the best Christmas gift ever!

L.A., mid 1970s, late night on a freeway heading home with dad. Tacky Crown Victoria wagon, me 9 years old in the back seat (no seatbelts) and this song came on the radio. I instantly sat straight up mesmerized by this song. I sat frozen through the whole song almost wanting to weep on how beautiful it was. I dreamt about that song all night and for the rest of my life.
