The album reached the top 20 of the charts in United States, Canada and Australia. Jolly old saint nicholas, jolly old saint nicholas)
Jolly old saint nicholas, lean your ear this way
Don't you tell a single soul what I'm gonna say
Christmas Eve is coming soon
Now you dear old man
Whisper what you'll bring to me
Tell me if you can
When the clock is striking 12
When I'm fast asleep
Down the chimney,
Broad and black, with your pack you'll creep
With your pack you'll creep
Jonny wants a pair of skates
Susie wants a dolly
Nellie wants a storybook
She thinks dolls are folly
As for me,
My little brain isn't very bright
Choose for me, old Santa Clause,
What you think is right
Jolly old saint nicholas, lean your ear this way
Don't you tell a single soul
What I'm gonna say
Christmas Eve is coming soon
Now you dear old man
Whisper what you'll bring to me,
Tell me if you can
All the stockings you will find
Hanging in a row
Mine will be the shortest one
You'll be sure to know
You'll be sure to know
You'll be sure to know
The lyrics to Hayley Kiyoko's "Jolly Old Saint Nick" are reminiscent of the classic Christmas tune "Up on the Housetop." The song is about a child who is eagerly awaiting Christmas and the arrival of Santa Claus. The child asks Santa what he will bring, and lists off the requests of some other children - Jonny wants skates, Susie wants a dolly and Nellie wants a storybook. The child then tells Santa that their own brain isn't very bright and asks him to choose what he thinks is right. The song ends with the child knowing that their stocking will be the shortest one.
The song can be seen as a representation of the excitement and anticipation that children feel around Christmas time. The lyrics represent the child's innocent and pure desire for gifts, and the child's trust in Santa Claus to bring them something that they will love. The line "all the stockings you will find, hanging in a row, mine will be the shortest one, you'll be sure to know" implies that the child knows that Santa will deliver something special to them, regardless of the size of their stocking.
Overall, "Jolly Old Saint Nick" is a charming and catchy Christmas tune that captures the magic and wonder of the holiday season.
