Remembering
Hellraiser Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

it seems I saw it all before
so many centuries ago
the ancient terrors creep behind me

what a f**k is that - I cry
horror possessed my mind
but I know it was for real
this is not a dream

I can see
burning sky
no mercy

I can recall how I was killed
on scaffold high my blood was spilt
the hangman raised a deadly sword

what a f**k is that - I cry
someone slashed my mind
but I know it was for real
this is not a dream

inquisition -
holy mission
mass extinction
terrors come alive
out of old times

burn in my mind

I can see
burning sky
no mercy

inquisition -
mass extinction
out of old times
inquisi1ion -
holy mission
mass extinction
terrors come alive
out of old times
burn in my mind

inquisition -
mass extinction
out of old times
inquisi1ion -
holy mission
mass extinction
terrors come alive

out of old times
burn in my mind

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Hellraiser's song "Remembering" tell the story of a person who feels like they have experienced the horrifying events of the past. The song describes how the ancient terrors of the inquisition have caught up with the singer's mind, and they are haunted by the memories of being executed on the scaffold, as well as the inquisition's mission for mass extinction. The singer is scared and overwhelmed by the burning sky and the lack of mercy he sees around him.

The lyrics suggest that the singer is undergoing some form of psychological torment, caused by the traumatic memories of the past. The song reflects the horror and brutality of the inquisition, and the deep scars that it has left on the collective psyche of humanity. The use of profanity in the lyrics accentuates the sense of desperation and helplessness that the singer feels in the face of these repressed and traumatic memories.

"Remembering" is a powerful song that delves into the horrors of the inquisition and the lasting effects it had on society. The melody, instrumentation, and vocals complement the dark and foreboding theme of the song, evoking a sense of fear and desperation.

Doug Bradley was at his best in this movie, so subtle so charismatic with always a quiet menace about him, then a new cenobite comes in and dispatches him out of the movie in seconds just as the conversation between him and Kirsty was becoming interesting, i remember the first time seeing it and it was so jarring, then i had to wait for hellraiser 3 to see him again and by that stage they absolutely pissed all over his character turning him into a substandard freddy goon surrounded by goofy looking cenobites, absolutely criminal!!

@roundtheloopandback

Doug bradley did have some good scenes in the church in hellraiser three, but yeah the movie straight up sucked and was a waste of terry farrell

@Yaguara

Yeah Hellraiser 3 was awful. Hickox basically turned Pinhead into his Warlock. Warlock was cool but Pinhead isn't Warlock.

@LAVATORR

What, you didn't think the DJ Cenobite that cut people in half with CDs wasn't twisted and scary enough?

@darkestfugue

@LAVATORR no, it was goofy as fuck

@roundtheloopandback

@LAVATORR no it was stupid and no where near the quality of the previous cenobites :)

A beautiful redemptive arc for pin head here without all the over elaborate sign posting you get in modern cinema. Subtle but powerful.

@CKZaibatsu

I love how at 1:07, you can tell how Pinhead doesn't really believe what he's about to say before Kristy interrupts him.

@ecklectic9977

Yes it looks like he is trying to convince himself. He only has a few lines but manages to convey so much just with a simple look.

It would be interesting to know just what he was going to say there if Kirsty had not interrupted him.
