Herbie Mann was born in Brooklyn, New York. Early in his career, he played saxophone and clarinet, but Mann was among the first jazz musicians to specialize on the flute and was perhaps jazz music's preminent flautist during the 1960s.
Mann was quite prolific and performed often. His first gig was playing in the Catskills at age 15. His last, on May 3, 2003 was at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival at age 73. Herbie Mann died at age 73 on July 1, 2003 of prostate cancer.

I wanna steal your love... Hijack
The song "Hijack" by Herbie Mann is a funky instrumental track that revolves around a repeating melody with the phrase "Hijack your love" being chanted throughout the song. The song has a lively tempo, and the way the instruments are played separately gives a groovy rhythmic experience. The repeating chorus line "Hijack your love" could be interpreted in different ways, but one interpretation is that it could be an expression of desire or infatuation towards someone.
The phrase "Hijack your love" could be seen as a metaphor to express the feeling of wanting to steal someone's heart or affection. The track's rhythm and melody create a sense of urgency and passion, which could convey the message of someone who has fallen deeply in love and wants to take control of the situation. It could be said that the song exhibits a sense of confidence and recklessness in pursuing someone's love, as if anything other than that would be unacceptable.
Overall, "Hijack" is a funky and energetic instrumental track that is a celebration of love and desire. The repeating chorus line and the groove of the song give an infectious experience, making it a perfect track to dance to.

Herbie Mann was determined to make the flute a lead solo instrument with which to reckon.
Needless to acknowledge that he succeeded many times around with the help of Frank Wess, James Moody, Sam Most, Joe Ferrell, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Dave Valentine, James Newton, Bobbi Humphrey and many others.
No genre was beyond the reach of his "flutophonic" onslaught: Jazz, Pop, RnB, RnR, Funk, Fusion, Samba, Bossa Nova, Soul, Folk, Hymnody, Gospel, Calypso, Reggae...
One of the first tunes I learned to play on the Concert flute was "Hi Jack" by Herbert Jay Solomon, flutist, tenor saxophonist and bass clarinetist.

Still WUNNERFUL! Written back in the day when they knew how to write music. I'd still dance to this if I ever heard it again.

Wow, what great memories with this soulful funky disco song. I used to play this in a 45 record player back in the 70's in Miami, Florida where I'am from. I'am now 48 years old and this great music is no where near of what this generation hears today which is "Crap". After 38 years, I heard this song in my truck from Satellite radio. It really brought me great memories! Love and very blessed to be there in the 70's as a kid to admire this piece of great music!

Great tune!!! Thanks. #JazzFunk
