Grace

The way things are going that could today but
There's a comfort in knowing that
In spite of all things
I still have your grace, grace
Water and fire might consume it all
And the things put before you wouldn't
Have no value at all
Of what's important to me
I still want your grace
Because of your grace
Nothing is impossible with your grace
By this we are saved
What a blessing for the righteous
We have the gift of your grace
All of the world could drift away
The way things are going that could today but
There's a comfort in knowing that
In spite of all things
I still have your grace, grace
Because of your grace
Nothing is impossible with your grace
By this we are saved
What a blessing for the righteous
We have the gift of your grace
Nothing is impossible with your grace
By this we are saved
What a blessing for the righteous
We have the gift of your grace
Your grace is my protection
Lord I'm safe in your sight
And when I'm wrong and need correction
Your Grace makes me right
I'll be unrecognizable without your
Grace in my life lord I want more
I want more of your grace
In Hezekiah Walker's song "Grace," the singer acknowledges that the world constantly threatens to pull them away from what is important. Despite this, they find comfort in the knowledge that they still have access to God's grace, which is what truly matters. The singer views God's grace as a transformative force that allows them to be saved and to face impossible situations. The final stanza suggests that the singer relies completely on God's grace, and cannot imagine being without it.
The emphasis on God's grace as a source of comfort and transformation is a common theme in gospel music. The song's repetition of the word "grace" underscores the importance of this concept in the singer's life. The reference to water and fire potentially consuming everything speaks to the unpredictability of life and the fundamental need for stability. The reference to being "unrecognizable" without God's grace could be interpreted as a nod to the idea that one's relationship with God fundamentally shapes who they are.
