Their first EP was released that same year, but was taken down when 2015 EPs Bashful Creatures and South was dropped.
The band's first LP, landmark was released in early 2017, and was followed by warm glow (EP). During this time, DeCarlo Jackson (trumpet, bass & percussion), who had been in a band with Nathan and Whistler in high school, started touring with the band.
In 2018, the band released their second LP, Bambi.
Sophie So
Hippo Campus Lyrics

you said you were clever but clever is never enough
a tremble, a shiver; the patience is something you lack
disastrous and matchless; the shivers that drip off your back
try to repair what you never quite see
the reasons you spoke of but never had given to me
got you, Sophie so
you came back, you wanted to see through my two-colored eyes you left me at home with a down-trodden handful of sighs
all gone, are you ever really here? all gone, are you ever really here?
all gone. are you?
you came back. you wanted.
The lyrics to Hippo Campus's "Sophie So" seem to be addressing a person named Sophie who has returned to the singer, wanting a piece of their heart or love. The singer sees through Sophie's supposed cleverness, believing that it is not enough to warrant a successful relationship. They describe Sophie as lacking patience and being disastrous and matchless. The singer then tries to repair something that they never quite saw or understood, while Sophie seems to have left them at home with a handful of sighs. The singer questions if Sophie was ever really there, if anything that they shared was ever real.
The song "Sophie So" seems to be about a failed relationship, where the singer is reflecting on the mistakes made. It seems that Sophie came back, perhaps after breaking up with the singer or being absent for some time, wanting another chance. However, the singer sees through Sophie's intentions and realizes that their love is not enough to sustain a healthy relationship. The lyrics describe Sophie as being unreliable, lacking patience, and causing the singer to feel shivers of discomfort. The singer tries to repair what they never understood, perhaps blaming themselves for the relationship's failure. The repeated lines of "all gone, are you ever really here" convey a sense of loss and confusion, as the singer questions whether their relationship was ever genuine.
