The lyrics to Homecomings's song Pedal in 2-3 long paragraphs detail the excitement and anticipation of starting a new day with endless possibilities, the joy in the little things in life, and the feelings of nostalgia and missing someone. The first verse portrays a sense of optimism and readiness to take on the day. The singer wakes up and sees a small light in the distance, symbolizing the potential for adventure and exploration. They describe the day as being like weaving together small lights, like a Sunday. The second verse shows the singer's appreciation for the present moment, noting that they are getting used to it and finding joy in the small things, like having bangs. They also express concern for someone's apparent sadness, even though they seem energetic.
The chorus describes the singer exploring the city on their bike, feeling the warmth of the sun on their face and smelling the scent of the streets. They think of a secret they brought back from a faraway place and a present they could carry only halfway. The bridge shows the singer's vulnerability and the possibility of embarrassment, as they forget to be embarrassed and make mistakes that make them laugh. They mention a secret question about when they last cried being part of their unspoken thoughts. The last verse brings a more wistful tone, as the day comes to an end and the city darkens. They recall a partially read book where two people were together, feeling the loneliness of the street scent. The final line of the chorus describes the passage of time as the singer pedals every day and the days spin around, all while missing the person they care about.
