Horace is the first jazz player I discovered and, after having cultured myself with many other jazz players, he continues to be my favorite one. His pieces sound like a poem.

This is one of the best composer and arranger in jazz, bar none. His work continues to inspire and his talents were to envied by many. Nica's Dream has been recorded by hundreds of singers and bands. I lived in New York City for many years and too bad I never saw him live. My absolute error.

He inspires me too. I saw him live but I couldn't fully take in the beauty of this man. It was 50 years ago, the summer of 1970. He's a constant in my life now.
