Hospital Lyrics

in the light of a shining moon
in the night and in the day
i can't shake this dream away
let me sleep till morning comes
all alone till morning comes
take me back to golden days
somewhere else to take my place
whatever they say
whatever they do
whatever they want
It's up to you
it takes courage to believe
what you want is what you need
friends you have are friends indeed
when you are falling into deep
some call me slave of my desires
the song is running through the wires
the song is carrying me away
where i can see my golden days
whatever they say
whatever they do
whatever they want
It's up to you
do you believe in me
like i believe in you
In the song "Golden Days" by Hospital, the lyrics convey a sense of longing and escape from reality. The opening lines describe the singer drifting through a room, illuminated by the light of a shining moon. This imagery suggests a dream-like state, where the boundaries between night and day blur, indicating a desire to disconnect from the present and immerse oneself in a different reality. The repeated phrase, "I can't shake this dream away," reflects a yearning to remain in this dream-like state until morning comes, suggesting a reluctance to confront the challenges of reality.
The next stanza introduces the idea of taking the listener back to "golden days" and finding somewhere else to take their place. This implies a longing for a simpler or happier time, symbolized by the phrase "golden days." It expresses a desire to escape the current situation and find solace in a different reality or location. The repeated verse, "Whatever they say, whatever they do, whatever they want, it's up to you," could be interpreted as an empowering message to take control of one's own destiny and decisions.
The following stanza explores the theme of belief and the role it plays in navigating life's challenges. It suggests that believing in what one wants and needs requires courage, as going against the opinions or expectations of others may be necessary. The line "friends you have are friends indeed when you are falling into deep" speaks to the importance of true friends who support and stand by you during difficult times. The lyrics acknowledge the conflicting nature of desires and the struggle to assert oneself amidst external pressures and expectations.
The closing lines ask a poignant question, "Do you believe in me like I believe in you?" This line suggests a plea for validation and support, emphasizing the reciprocation of belief in each other. It conveys a need for mutual trust and reassurance, potentially in a relationship or friendship context. Overall, the lyrics of "Golden Days" by Hospital explore the themes of escapism, personal agency, the challenges of belief, and the yearning for support and validation from others.
