A Los Angeles native, Villalobos's family originates from two different sides of the globe - Cananea Sonora México and Francavilla al Mare on the Italian Adriatic Coast. Rey grew up a classically trained pianist, citing Chopin as his first and main musical influence.
House of Wolves debut album Fold In The Wind presents a warm, ethereal, and poetic collection. While beautifully eerie in acoustic form, the songs are filled with emotional, intricate, and organic sounds, and blended with Villalobos's haunting melodies and tender voice they call to mind Elliot Smith, Sufjan Stevens, and Beach House.
This past 2010, Villalobos spent his time touring the U.S. and Europe and playing shows with: Sharon Van Etten, Villagers, White Rabbits, The Middle East, Avi Buffalo, Blind Pilot, Laura Gibson, Damien Jurado, Little Joy, Seabear, Kaki King, and Fanfarlo.
Ageless
House of Wolves Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
and see if it dies
the falling is saved
i want to make things right
your ageless time
your ageless time
the sulk in his eyes
and the fall of your hand
and now that you can
your ageless time
your ageless time
i scorned you came back
feels just right
fall into next
and all of your fight
your waveless eyes
your waveless eyes
your waveless eyes
your waveless eyes
The lyrics of House of Wolves's song 'Ageless' have a melancholic and enigmatic feel to them. It starts with a cryptic line, "call on a bird and see if it dies", which could mean trying to test the limits of something that appears fragile. The next line, "the falling is saved", could mean that the singer is trying to save someone or something that is very close to falling apart. The following line, "I want to make things right", suggests that there is something wrong that needs fixing.
The repeated phrase, "your ageless time", could mean that the subject of the song is either timeless, ageless, or that the singers want to preserve a moment in time. The subsequent line, "the sulk in his eyes and the fall of your hand", suggests a feeling of sadness or helplessness. The line "and the piece under her" adds another layer of obscurity, it could be a fragment of memory, a mental image or state of mind. In the final line "now that you can", the singer could be talking to someone, telling them to seize the moment, to 'make things right' before it's too late.
The singer then seems to switch their focus to themselves and their feelings, saying "I scorned you came back, feels just right", which suggests regret at a past mistake and a feeling of comfort after reconciling with someone. The next line, "fall into next and all of your fight", could mean that the singer wants to move on from a struggle they had, and embrace the future. The final repetition of "your waveless eyes" adds to the dreamlike quality of the song, suggesting an unresolved feeling or a sense of stasis.

Another great band. This seems pretty soft for a BJM song, though.
