Both records have met with considerable critical and commercail success: Excpect much more from their new release Picture in My Head, which begins where those records left off.
Don't worry, the uber-tight harmonies and sing-a-long melodies are still there, they've just matured a bit, and the band has added a diverse array of weapons to thier already formidable pop-indie arsenal.

Carousel
Household Names Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I've found a place to go
And I wanna ride the carousel
Well you can take your time
And even change your mind
But I just wanna ride the carousel
It's a one-way ticket that you're thinking of
My hands are free, there's nothing
And now I have to prove it
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
There are people in this town
Who'll try to keep you down
But I wanna ride the carousel
They see nothing else besides
One more face to colorize
But I just wanna ride the carousel
There's a young man standing on a two-way street
Who never had the courage to believe
That he could have the courage
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
There's still an easy way out
I'm here to let you know
I've found a place to go
And I wanna ride the carousel
Well you can take your time
And even change your mind
But I just wanna ride the carousel
The lyrics of "Carousel" by Household Names describe the desire to break free and escape from the monotonous routine of life. The title "Carousel" implies a longing for childhood joy and simplicity, while the lyrics indicate a desire for something more fulfilling than the mundane existence of the present. The singer declares that they have found a place to go, presumably a new and exciting direction, and they want to ride the carousel. The repetition of the chorus line "There's still an easy way out" suggests that many people never take the chance to break free, even though there could be an easy path to do so.
