Strings and Attractors
How to Destroy Angels Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Us all together
A new ideal, all so real
Like I remember
And sometimes I
Get lost in time
Sometimes I fear
All these little strings
Holding us together
All these precious things
Can make them last
All these little strings
Keep holding us together
All these precious things
Make them last forever
So very slow
You'd never know
The moment fading
We watch the end
Over again
And keep repeating
I feel like I'm
I feel like I'm
I feel like I'm
Just disappearing
All these little strings
Holding us together
All these precious things
Can make them last
All these little strings
Keep holding us together
All these precious things
Make them last forever
The opening lyrics of How to Destroy Angels' song "Strings and attractors" describe the stigma of the modern world. We live in a society where people define themselves with a million lies. The lines "A new ideal, all so real / Like I remember" depict the image that the society has created for itself, a perfect one that we all have to live up to. We are all following it without much resistance, and it has become a part of us. The song talks about how we all become slaves of this false idea, and our lives are all tied together with little strings, which hold us down like puppets.
The chorus of the song depicts an image of hope. The little strings that tie us down can also keep us together. The "precious things" that hold us together can make us last forever. Even though we are all living in lies, we can still find hope in each other. However, the song takes a dark turn in the second verse. It talks about how we are losing ourselves in time and how we are just disappearing. The last few lines of the song repeat the chorus, signifying the importance of holding onto the little strings that tie us down.
In conclusion, "Strings and attractors" is a haunting song that describes the human condition in the modern world. It talks about how we all live in lies, but our hope lies in each other.
