Their debut album Ideas Above Our Station reached number 6 in the UK album chart, spawned several Top 40 singles and has since gone gold in the UK. The band went on to tour extensively throughout Europe and Japan. Despite selling 35,000 copies of their second album Shatterproof Is Not A Challenge they were dropped by Sony BMG in June 2004.
Hundred Reasons signed to V2 Records in September 2005. Their third album Kill Your Own - produced by guitarist Larry Hibbitt - was released on March 20, 2006 to critical acclaim and sold 30,000 copies.
On August 9, 2006 it was announced on the band's official website that guitarist and vocalist Paul Townsend would be leaving the band following their tour of Japan in early September. The departure is said to be "totally amicable", and Ben Doyle of The Lucky Nine has since joined the band as guitarist.
The band's fourth album, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action, was released on October 15, 2007. Less than a month after the album's release, V2 Records was bought by Universal, leaving the band, once again, without a label and the album was pulled from shops. Because of this, no further singles were released from the record.
Having been given the album by Universal, Quick the Word, Sharp the Action was re-released in Spring 2009. With the band touring to coincide with the release.

Hundred Reasons Lyrics

And if we collaborate in synch then we would not fault
So you tempt me into being what's sought after
They lay in casts
They lay in casts
Where is the need to know?
I stop to think where you lost it
The chance was found and then thrown
So then you distance yourself from my mistakes
And a choice to adhere to you forsaken
And I cradle you in my own arms and wish
You can make your own away
You can make your own away
And I will ask of no-one
The lyrics of the song "Answers" by Hundred Reasons is about the struggle to find one's place in the world and to make your own path despite the setbacks and mistakes that may come along the way. The first line asks a poignant question - "if your wings lay unbroken, would they still unfold?" - highlighting the potential that one may have, but not always fulfilling it due to external circumstances. The lyrics then talk about collaboration and the need to work together to avoid making mistakes or faulting. The lines "so you tempt me into being what's sought after, they lay in casts, where is the need to know?" suggest that someone is trying to coax the singer into conforming to societal expectations, even if it means sacrificing their individuality. However, the singer questions the need to fit in and conform, ultimately wishing for the person to "make their own way" and not live up to anyone else's expectations.
The second part of the lyrics talks about distancing oneself from mistakes and choosing who to adhere to. The line "and a choice to adhere to you forsaken" seems to suggest that the singer has made a conscious decision not to follow someone who may have led them astray in the past. However, the line "and I cradle you in my own arms and wish" speaks to the compassion and care that the singer still has for this person, despite their differences. The song concludes with the line "and I will ask of no-one", showing the singer's determination to find their own way and not rely on anyone else's approval or validation.
