Inspired by influential bands such as The Cure, The Strokes, and The Killers, HUNNY's music can be described as well-crafted "post-punk tinged pop". Combining elements of new-wave sheen, shoegaze gloom, and angular guitar rock, the band's sound carries a distinct California cool sensibility. Jason Yarger, the band's lead vocalist and guitarist, coined the term "sadwave" to characterize HUNNY's genre, with lyrics revolving around their personal experiences growing up and encounters with love and heartbreak.
HUNNY gained early recognition with the release of their self-titled EP, "Pain/ Ache/ Loving," in 2015. This EP garnered millions of streams, thanks to tracks like the hit single "Cry For Me." Throughout their journey, HUNNY has shared close ties with long-time friends The Neighbourhood and Bad Suns. This gives me early June vibes. :) Just when school ends... I remember my teacher used to put this song on during class this year. As an 8th grade student who's currently going into high school, Ik it isn't common for some youngsters like me to listen to this kind of music, but this is an underrated masterpiece! I saw the name of the song on his Spotify list, so I was thinking I should listen to this song when I get home. Turns out it was one of the best decisions I made in my life. I'm so glad I heard this song. This song does get me through one of my toughest moments. Such a great song!
