Rain Will Fall
I Mother Earth Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Trying to understand
Electric wind blowing like
A demon fan or a symphony of hatred
Blowing angst off an immaculate stage
How tranquil is an ocean
Before a storm like a silent play
Dance naked and I feel
So wired
It's a personal voodoo
running through my views
Like blood
With inhibition long gone
And no sense
Of space or time
A weird vibration
Don't know my right
From wrong
Rain will fall
Poetry and motion
Both rolling
Both getting me high
A shiver went through me
A tidal wave
I only felt inside
It's an animal instinct
That takes us over
And we must survive
Four brothers make the Mother
Four brothers make it one
The lyrics to I Mother Earth's song Rain Will Fall seem to depict a scene of chaos, perhaps inspired by the natural elements of a storm. The first two lines, "Looking at the world go, Trying to understand" suggest the singer is struggling to comprehend the world around him, perhaps feeling overwhelmed by the forces at play. The "Electric wind blowing like a demon fan" evokes a sense of danger or ominous energy, while the "symphony of hatred" creates a feeling of discord and aggression. Despite this chaos, there is a sense of awe and appreciation for the power of nature, as suggested by the metaphor of the ocean before a storm being like a "silent play."
The second stanza further explores the singer's experience of the storm-like energy, with the "chanting thunder" and "weird vibration" creating a sense of disorientation and a loss of boundaries. There is also a sense of liberation, with "inhibition long gone" and "no sense of space or time." However, this liberation also comes with a sense of uncertainty or moral confusion, as the singer admits, "Don't know my right from wrong." The final lines of the chorus, "Rain will fall," could be interpreted as a foreboding warning of the inevitable consequences of this chaos, or as a simple acknowledgment of the power of nature to bring both destruction and renewal.
The bridge of the song offers some contrast to the storm imagery, with the lines "Poetry and motion, Both rolling, Both getting me high" suggesting a more peaceful or transcendent experience. However, there is still a sense of raw, instinctual energy, as with the "shiver" and "tidal wave" that the singer feels "inside." The final lines of the song, "Four brothers make the Mother, Four brothers make it one" suggest a sense of unity or shared experience among people - that despite the chaos and confusion of life, there is a deeper connection that binds us all.

@TS 112 sorry for the crazy late reply my friend. That’s so cool you were there the same years I went. I did not see the guy charging to pull people out, I felt lucky to get out myself.
I had a 1995 S-10 extended cab at the time that I literally bought the day before I went to the 1995 Livestock. I got my first scratch there. Lol.
Luckily near where I and my friends camped, someone cut the fence.
Sadly, I think Festival Park is being turned into a damned housing subdivision now. There were rumors of it for years but now it seems to be actually happening.
Man I miss Livestock. I also miss the sadly former 97X Next Big Thing.
Btw, in case you haven’t stumbled on it yet, I’ve made a Livestock playlist, just search for brian5o Livestock and hopefully it comes up. Man, those were the best of times in my life with the best music. I really miss those days.
Thanks for responding to my comment twice and take care my friend! It’s always great sharing memories with people who enjoyed them, too.

Even if you’re not into IME, just listening to this composition, you cannot deny this entire album is a masterpiece. The layers upon layers on building complex crescendos…..way before it’s time. Possibly the greatest album ever recorded. Still listening in 2021.

I was living in Belize and watching these guys on pirated cable tv on MTV. At that time I had no idea they were Canadian. If the lead singer had never left, these guys could've been one of greatest bands that could have came out of Canada.
