Family
Ignite Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

We've wiped out clans and families
My species kills off everything close to me
Eradicate all packs of wolves
Shooting, trapping, poisoning, wasting, insanity

No more future
No real meaning
No more murder
No more pain

The hunters pay their blood money
A future loss of predatorial species
The governments - they pay for this
Shoot from a helicopter is a sportsman's dream

No more meaning
To this madness
No more killing
Nothing gained

We live in the age of little Red Riding Hood
The movies and the stories show the wolves as never good
Unlike us humans, they only kill the weak
Respect their elders, respect their family

Extinct!
The timber, red, and gray wolves play
A vital role in genetic diversity
I consider them a vital part of my world
So I'm justified in fighting to protect them all

No more hunting
No more murder
No more trapping
No more hate

Canis
Lupis
Extinct
No more

No more
Pain

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Ignite's song "Family" deal with the destructive nature of humans towards nature, particularly towards predatory species. The song laments the eradication of families and clans, not just in human society but in animal society as well. The singer acknowledges the human tendency to kill off anything that is deemed too dangerous or threatening, even if it is a vital part of the ecosystem. The lyrics use the example of wolves to showcase this destructive tendency and the lack of empathy towards nature.

The song condemns the actions of hunters and governments who pay money to eliminate predatory species, reducing the genetic diversity of the planet. The singer acknowledges that this madness has no real meaning and results in nothing gained. The chorus of the song repeats the phrase "No more" multiple times, emphasizing the need to stop the destruction and killing of innocent creatures.

The lyrics also draw a sharp contrast between humans and wolves, highlighting the fact that wolves only kill weak prey and respect their family structures. In contrast, humans kill indiscriminately, causing pain and suffering to both humans and animals. The song challenges humans to respect and protect the predator species, as they play a vital role in genetic diversity and ultimately contribute to the healthy functioning of the planet.

You're talking about ol' school Orange County Hardcore, punk-rock, scene and will always continue to be. I was first introduced to them around the time that Pennywise came out with Unknown Road in '94, just to give you an idea, and yes they were hardcore, as well then and that is why both bands will forever be bands who influenced the trajectory of whatever you listen to now. Ignite is a band that has influenced my style more than any other band has.

As with countless others, I know that I'm committed for life. Agreed, as it pertains to the Orange County, Hardcore, Punk-Rock scene but the scene live-on from coast to coast and across this world.

@fsmith86
