Sunblock
Imagination Movers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Do you wanna play in the sun?
But I don't wanna
Feeling kinda lazy, feeling kinda slow
Sunblock for your body and brain
Use some sunblock and go out to play
Everybody say, sunblock, fun won't stop
Sunblocks, fun won't stop
Cover yourself, cover yourself
Do what your momma says
Get yourself outta bed, open up the door
Let the sun shine down you
(Let the sun shine down on you)
The song Sunblock by the Imagination Movers, is all about the joys of being in the sun, but also the importance of taking good care of oneself under the sun. The song opens with the singer expressing boredom and a desire to play, but feeling a little too lazy and slow. However, as the song progresses, the singer realizes that all they need is a little bit of sunblock for their body and brain in order to enjoy the day to the fullest. The chorus encourages listeners to cover themselves when the sun gets hot, and assures them that fun won't stop as long as they use sunblock.
Sunblock, as the title suggests, is the recurring motif throughout the song. The song emphasizes the importance of using enough sunblock before going out to enjoy the sun, and how it can have a positive impact on one's body and mind. The song encourages the audience to do what their mothers say, and to open up the door and let the sun shine down on them. It’s a cheerful, catchy song that encourages people to take care of themselves and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Overall, the lyrics are a reminder to be mindful of the sun’s power and to take proper precautions but also to fully appreciate the fun and benefits that come with being outside. Sunblock is the basic essential and a small conscious effort can go a long way towards avoiding unwarranted problems caused by excessive exposure to the sun.
