Band History
In 2005, singer Maria Brink and guitarist Chris Howorth met through some common friends. After becoming acquainted they found there was much in common between the two and began writing songs. Soon thereafter they enlisted the help of Los Angeles drummer Jeff Fabb. The band was first called Dying Star. By mid-2005, the lineup included Brink, Howorth, Fabb, guitarist Blake Bunzell, and bassist Josh Newell. The band recorded demos, and they generated a large internet following. During the summer of 2005, Newell departed from the band to focus on his other project, Ketaset, as well as his sound engineering work. A close friend of the band named Pascual Romero (of Tinhorn) took over bass duties for a short time before Jesse Landry was given the position, and the band found its permanent lineup. By the end of the year, In This Moment had generated such a large following due to diligent internet marketing and "do-it-yourself" touring, they sparked an interest from Century Media Records. A worldwide record deal followed. Jesse Landry departed from the band because he wanted to live his true dreams. Fly Planes. Kyle Konkiel Replaced him.
In May 2011, In This Moment posted on Facebook that they are working on new material for a new album hoping for a 2012 release. This new release was recorded without founding members Jeff Fabb and Blake Bunzel, who are both working with James Durbin as of September, 2011. Blood will be the first album since the band have parted ways with longtime manager, Blasko. Blood was revealed to be the album's title on April 6, 2012. On May 14, 2012, it was announced that the album will be released on August 14, 2012. "Blood" was released as the album's first single on June 12, 2012. The album artwork and track listing for Blood were released on June 18, 2012. New members include Travis Johnson on Bass, Randy Weitzel on Rhythm Guitar and Tom Hane on Drums.
In This Moment announced on February 5, 2014 that they had left their Century Media Records label that had produced their previous four studio albums and signed a new deal with Atlantic Records. They also said that they are set to enter the studio on February 23 to record their fifth studio album and follow up their break out album "Blood," released in 2012. Chris Howorth says, “We have a bunch of ideas and the way we did ‘Blood’ was different than we’d done any album before. We brought ideas and pieces and parts into the studio and wrote each song in the studio, one at a time. All the other albums we had the songs formatted and together already. So we’re going to do the same thing again. We’re gonna try to replicate the magic of ‘Blood’ and try to take the style and sound we had for ‘Blood’ and just do it bigger and better while still keeping true to that same vibe. That’s our sound. We feel like we found something and want to stick the flag in the ground on top of that hill.
On the 18th of November 2014, In This Moment released Black Widow, debuting at number 8, their highest position in the charts to date. Their sixth album, Ritual, was released in the summer of 2017. Their seventh studio album, Mother was released on March 27, 2020.

Out of Hell
In This Moment Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She has dreams of a girl
She thought she'd be in love
She thought she'd have the white picket fence
Now she stands on the corner
She sold herself to the streets
When the world gave up on her
She gave up on herself
She said, does anybody care?
As the monster pulls up slowly
He asks her how much she is
(She's worthless)
(Sweetheart you're worthless)
He's only fifteen
The world is passing him by
His father killed his mother
And drugs took over his life
Now he sleeps on corners
The streets become his home
When the world gave up on him
He gave up on himself
He said, is anybody out there?
Does anybody care?
The hopelessness is rising
There's only so much one can bare
I said, you are not alone
I'm standing by your side
I walk with you threw hell
I walk with you tonight
We are the forgotten
That nobody wants to face
Together we can rise
Let's climb out of hell
You are not forgotten
I'm standing by your side
Your struggle makes you beautiful
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
Out of hell we will climb
The song "Out of Hell" by In This Moment brings attention to the plight of the youth who have become victims of the dark side of life. The lyrics describe the story of a sixteen-year-old girl, who once had dreams of love and a happy family, but now finds herself standing on a street corner, selling her body to anyone who can afford her. She has given up on herself and feels nobody cares about her. Similarly, the song recounts the tragic life of a fifteen-year-old boy whose mother was killed by his father, and drugs have taken over his life. He has made the streets his home and feels nobody is there for him. The hopelessness is rising in both their lives, and they cry out for help, wondering if anybody hears or cares.
However, the song takes a twist as the singer steps in with a message of assurance to both the girl and the boy. She assures them that they are not alone, and she is standing by their side as they walk through hell. The singer acknowledges that they are the forgotten, and nobody wants to face them. Still, together they can rise and climb out of hell. She persuades them that their struggle is what makes them beautiful, and they are not forgotten. She reiterates that they can climb out of hell and rise above their circumstances.
In conclusion, "Out of Hell" by In This Moment is a song that aims to raise awareness about the plight of many disadvantaged youth who have become victims of drugs, abuse, and poverty. The lyrics evoke deep emotions that help the listener connect with the struggles that these teenagers face. Nevertheless, it is a song of hope that instills a sense of confidence in the youth that they can rise above their life circumstances and climb out of hell.

This band is way too underrated. They are so much better than the shit that comes out these days. ITM is one of the few modern bands with a good meaning behind their songs.
White Wolf
I agree 💯 no one can match them. They are probably my Top Favorite Band. She's a badass and her music is amazing. I fell in love the first time I heard her. Into The Light is my favorite , I relate to that because I just lost my Mother , the hardest thing I had to go through my whole life. Don't give up , don't look back and keep moving forward. Even though you might feel alone remember you are not. The spirits will guide us and Out Of Hell We Will Climb..

I just found her almost exactly year ago. Evanescence helped me through my teenage troubles and in this moment has helped me with my husband leaving me. Say all you want about her, but this album has some meaning that she has faced.
I love you Maria!
