Olori Oko
Infinity Lyrics

Hmnn I have seen the future
Though I am not a prophet, hn hnnn
In the book of Revelation
There is warning for the nations
He that has any ear let him hear
what the spirit is saying
eh!!
Aisi n le olongbo (In the absense of the cat)
loun mu eku sako (the mouse takes charge)
yiyo tekun n yo (the Leopards's stalk for his prey)
ki ma e se tojo (should not be mistaken for fear/cowardice)
Agba ki wa loja kori omo tutun wo (A child's head should not be badly moulded while there are elders in the market place)
Fitila yi to tan (Before the oil lamp burns out)
Imole wole wa (Let the light come in)
Imole ti de (Light has come!)
eh!!
Olorioko shi n bo wa
On bo wa
On bo wa ye
Olorioko shi n bo wa
On bo wa
On bo wa ye
Olorioko shi n bo wa
On bo wa
On bo wa ye
Olorioko shi n bo wa
On bo wa
On bo wa ye
A fo pin ina
t'loun o pa fitila
ara re ni opa
Se bi aaro to ba gbon eh
l'ogun aso tele ki ipa, aye egbo
Afoju di omo eniyan
Olohun Oba
Iku lon mu dani
iye iye
Aisi n le olongbo
loun n mu eku sako
yiyo tekun n yo
ki ma e se tojo
Agba ki wa loja
kori omo tutun wo
Fitila yi to tan
Imole wole wa
Imole ti de
eh!!
Aye ile, aye ile
Edumare baba
Edumare baba
Emura emura...
Emura emura.
ye ye ye ye ye
Aye ile, aye ile
Edumare baba
Edumare baba
Emura emura...
Emura emura.
Olorioko nbo o
Jagunmolu nbo o
Papa nla ti n jo tohun tohun
Efufu ti mi le titi
e eh
Olorioko nbo o, emura
Oba a sa ya

Oba aidigbolu
eni o digbolu o asi mu wo mu womu...

Overall Meaning

The song Olori Oko by Infinity starts with the singer making a bold statement of having seen the future, despite not being a prophet. He alludes to the Book of Revelation, which gives a warning to the nations. The song then shifts to a Yoruba proverb about a cat's absence, which allows the mouse to take charge. The leopard's stalking of prey should not be mistaken for cowardice. The song then mentions an elder's role in shaping a child's life, emphasizing their wisdom and guidance.

The next verse of the song refers to the importance of being proactive, in light of the finite nature of time. A lamp's oil lamp is burning out, and the light needs to come in. Finally, the song extols the greatness of God with the lyrics, "aye ile, aye ile, Edumare baba," which translates to "the world, the world, God Almighty." The song ends with a reaffirmation of the presence of Olori Oko, Jagunmolu, and Papa Nla.

Overall, the song Olori Oko is a mix of several themes that reflect the Yoruba world view; the importance of wisdom, guidance, and respect for elders, the need to be proactive, and the greatness of God. It's a reminder of the need for people to appreciate the different spheres of life, learn from them and apply them to their own lives.
